How do you spend your holidays?

The holiday season is beginning and I couldn't be more excited. All of the family traditions always make for amazing memories. Most of our traditions start a little before Halloween when we get our pumpkins. We always go to a pumpkin patch instead of a market or grocery store. We go and walk around the pumpkin fields and pick the perfect pumpkins, we get apple cider or hot chocolate depending on where we are and walk around more as a family before leaving. After that we have Thanksgiving. I always spend Thanksgiving with close relatives, we all get-together and have a delicious feast, we joke around and play games and then we generally get our Christmas tree the day of or after. We always get real trees and usually my dad with cut one himself. We all decorate it together and have fun putting out all of the stockings and other holiday decorations. On December 1st the advent calendars and Elfie, the elf on the shelf, come out for 25 days of exciting surprises. Every day a little surprise leading up to Christmas. On Christmas Eve we go to Church in the evening with my grandparents and we open presents at their house, then my parents give us kids new "Christmas pajamas". Then on Christmas morning my brothers are always the first ones up, yelling and jumping to all the rooms to make sure that everyone knows "ITS CHRISTMAS". We go downstairs to the living room with the pretty presents under the beautiful Christmas tree, my brothers don't notice the beauty due to their uncontrollable excitement. We get our coffee/tea/snacks and settle into the living room to read the note that Santa left next to the plate that held is cookies the night before. We watch my brothers rip open presents and try to keep up enough to get the paper in the bag. Once they've settled the slightest bit we open a few things too but it's mainly about them. The rest of Christmas is spent relaxing with family and just enjoying the things we were given and cherishing the expressions of the ones we love as they opened the present we have them.

How do you spend your holidays? I'd love the feedback!

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

1. When course schedules are released and you have a conflict between two required classes.

Bonus points if it is more than two.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
