There's no argument that the best way to spend Christmas Day is lounging around in new pajamas, eating leftover Christmas Eve dinner and spending time with your family. With that said, truly the best part of Christmas Day is the Holiday movies you watch, but which one or ones do you watch? The Grinch? National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation? Miracle on 34th Street? It can be impossible to choose, but I'm here with a guide to the most popular Christmas movies to give you some assistance in choosing the best Holiday movie to watch this break.
We'll start with the Grinch, the classic cartoon movie originally made in 1966, was something all of us watched as kids, we fell in love with the precious Cindy Lou Who and the touching tale of how the Grinch's cold heart was thawed by true Christmas spirit. In 2000, we saw the same classic tale in a more comedic light, with the help of Jim Carrey. The new story is told with more emotional detail, establishing a deeper understanding of why the Grinch hates Christmas. This movie will make you laugh, cry and love Christmas like never before. It's truly earned it's spot as a Christmas Classic and deserves a spot in your Christmas queue.
Next, we'll go with the 80's classic: National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation. This movie may be the sole reason employers still hand out Christmas bonuses and why you always plan to get your Christmas tree ahead of time. Watching the Griswald family's shenanigans is guaranteed to make the whole family laugh and bring immense joy to your Holiday break. Between car chases, obnoxious family members and a revenge scheme to top it all off, no one does Christmas like the Griswalds.
No Holiday break is complete without Will Ferrell, specifically, the movie Elf. The hilarious story of a man raised as an Elf in the North Pole who is sent on a mission to find his dad in New York City. Will Ferrell delivers non-stop laughs and Christmas cheer as he saves Santa and Christmas, with the help of his new brother and mother. This movie delivers year-long laughs and is perfect for any Holiday movie night.
Last but not least, and my personal favorite, The Polar Express. This movie is perfect for getting into the Christmas spirit and understanding the true meaning of the Holidays. This movie is centered around a magical freight train that goes from North American suburbs to the North Pole to meet Santa himself. After a crazy trip to the North Pole full of mishaps, our protagonist, alongside his new friends, learns the meaning of the Holiday and has a great time while doing it. This Holiday movie tells a story that reveals the true meaning of Christmas, with the help of many characters voiced by Tom Hanks.
Here are just a few of the greatest movies of our day, all of them deliver the Christmas Spirit you desire and are sure to entertain you this Holiday Season!
