With both convention events being completed, both Clinton and Trump have accepted their nominations and have made their presence public along with the support of their friends, families and supporters.
Now, let's take a look at the Republic Convention first. The highlights were Ted Cruz's dissing speech to the Republican Party, Melania Trump's plagiarized speech and presidential nominee Donald Trump's 75-minute speech. On the first night of the Democratic Convention, Trump's wife and former supermodel Melania Trump introduced herself to the political circle and the people of America. Originally from Slovenia, Melania speaks four to five languages and began her modeling career in her teens during the 1990s. When Melania took the stage, the crowd welcomed her and, as she spoke, a realization came. Her speech closely resembled Michelle Obama's 2008 speech. This stirred some laughter and a series of memes to surf the Internet. It was later revealed by Melania's speechwriter Meredith McIver, that she and Melania worked on the speech together. Melania had told McIver that she was very much inspired by First Lady Michelle Obama. Thus McIver wrote the passages based off of Michelle Obama's 2008 speech while Melania recited them as examples via phone call. McIver was not aware of the passages coming directly from the 2008 Obama speech and left them in the final draft. Surprisingly, McIver was not fired.
Texas senator Ted Cruz took the stage on Wednesday and caused some people to be upset. His speech didn't endorse Trump whatsoever, but instead, he told Republicans and fellow Americans to "vote their conscience." Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton took advantage of his claim not too long after. Those who take part in the Republican Party were disappointed in Cruz. He had made a pledge to the Republican Party that he would support the Republican nominee, whoever that may be. Trump claimed that it was "dishonorable." Ted, America did vote their conscience, but it just wasn't you.
Now, here are a few things we learned while watching the Democratic convention. Hillary Clinton's infamous pantsuit isn't going anywhere, and her husband has a love for balloons. The Democratic debate brought in higher ratings for three nights compared to the republican convention. Many undecided voters were somewhat persuaded by Clinton's speech, but some found it hard to connect with the politician due to her somewhat sharp-like tone of voice.
Both candidates both have their flaws, but only one can win and the presidential race of 2016 is slowly unfolding.
