Your self worth does not lie in majors, choice of school, or parental praise.

To the high school senior who is unsure of what is to come,

You have finally made it to the half-way point of your senior year in high school. All of your friends are in constant chatter about how they found the perfect school, landed on the perfect major, and met the perfectroomie on the college Facebook page. You are happy and excited for them, yet deep down, you feel a pang of jealousy and utter confusion rise up in you again for what seems to be the 700th time this week. You may be at the point in the year where your dream school hasn’t replied back to you yet, or maybe you have no clue what peaks your interest and what you want to study. This is a stressful and confusing time, but do not let it get you down.

Do not let those big plans and tentative goals of those around you make you question your self-worth. You have your own goals set in life and you have dreams, you just may not know how to reach them quite yet. While your friends are buzzing around claiming to be majoring in pre-med, engineering, or business, just know that a lot of them will not end up with these careers in life. A majority of students change their major once they get through a semester or two of school. You will figure yourself out and find your niche. Do not spend your senior year in a constant state of stress trying to have the perfect answer to the dreaded question, “So what are you majoring in?” Your self-worth does not lie within what you think the appropriate answer to this is.

If you are stressing about what school to go to… let it go. There is no need to make a rushed and drastic decisions on this. No matter if you have been deferred, rejected, or accepted to your dream school, just know that the Lord will place you where He feels is right for you. It is difficult to wait on Him, especially when it seems that everyone else “knows” what they are doing.

I know this because I lived this.

I lived in constant comparison my senior year. I never felt like I stacked up to others. I never felt like what I was planning to do with my life sounded impressive to grandparents, teachers, and other adults. I never felt like I was going to get into the school I had dreamed about for three long years. I never was confident in my life goals and ambitions… but guess what? God grabbed a hold of me and reminded me that I needed to let go of my worry and self-struggle and I need to let Him take care of me. When I finally did that, God provided.

So, to any girl (or guy) who is feeling beside themselves in this long process…just know that you are going to be okay. God is going to fulfil the desires of your heart if you lean on Him and TRUST Him to get you through life. He is your biggest fan and He wants the best for you. So take this piece of advice with you:

Do not stress over things that are beyond your reach; God will provide for you always.

Sorority
Rebekah Lee

I remember my freshman year oh so well. I remember feeling terrified the night before orientation. The one thing that I dreaded the most was not the new people, the new environment, or even the academic pressure. I was dreading having to talk to sorority girls about Recruitment. I remember cutting off and avoiding any Rho Gamma/Panhellenic Officer that came my way during First Week. I looked at them like they had asked me to cut my arm off whenever they asked me if I wanted to rush. To be honest, I did not even know what rush was, but I knew that I did NOT want to be a part of it. To me, it was dumb. It was a waste of money. It was a waste of my time.

And guess what? I did not rush my freshman year. I spent the first half of my freshman year isolating myself from everyone on campus. I spent all of my time in the library, and then (since I was a commuter) went back home once my work was finished.

Tiana would no doubt be disappointed in the food our cafeteria has to offer.

And hopefully she would cook for everyone in her dorm.

She definitley would not take any 8:00 am classes because she would be up late baking and cleaning up the communal kitchen that are available in every dorm.
