The Hidden Teachers

Being a teacher's child has affected and impacted me greatly. Being a teacher's kid has put me in contact with many great teachers and has made me the person I am and who I want to be, a special Ed teacher.

Being a teacher's kid is not really that fun at the beginning but you grow to appreciate it! My momma always said, "People always held you to a higher standard. I always said they were preparing you for greatness!" Which is true, being a teacher's kid you always had to be on your best behavior, eyes are always watching you, have to be on your P's and Q's, dot your I's and cross your T's, and mainly the point is everything you do it critiqued and reported accordingly.

Have you heard the phrase don't do something your momma wouldn't approve of?In this case we are talking about your mommas!Every teacher you encountered becomes your eagle eyes, momma, daddy, your best friend, comforter, person to confide in, or your worst nightmare when it came to making the wrong decision. You are always watched after.

After you learn to appreciate this (tough) love, you begin to understand that this world is full of amazing teachers. The world is holding you to higher expectations. Mommas, Daddies, the mailman, the preacher, and practically any one you encounter becomes your teacher.

Confucius once pointed out that each person in your life is a lesson by stating, "If I am walking with two other men, each of them will serve as my teacher.I will pick out the good points of the one and imitate them and the bad points of the other and correct them in myself."

Yes my mom is a teacher, but whether that is her profession or not, that is her role in my life. For her patience,it has taught me that I need it.For the way she loves, it has taught me to take my time with people and never give up because there is a purpose for every person on this earth. For her talent, she has taught me to use the gifts God has given me because he would've given them to someone else if they were not meant to be used. For her kindness, I have learned to always show people with respect and love. For her passion and faith,I have been taught to always put God first in all that I do, display it well, and let the passion overflow that another person may see it and be inspired.

My Dad, he's a teacher too. Yes, he's a salesman, but he has taught me the importance of treating every person with respect, loving all you encounter, be aware of your surroundings, and be smart with every bit of decision you may make. He has taught me the love of Jesus and respect, and showed me how to be a man of integrity. He is a teacher, too.

I am a teacher's kid. I am a kid of three wonderful teachers, my Mom, Dad, and God, the greatest teacher of all. You are a teacher's kid too, embrace it. What kind of teacher would you want to be?Not only are you a teacher's child but you are one yourself.

Do you want to be that teacher that takes people out just to show that you love them and give time to them? Are you the teacher that plays Christian music at work to give hope to your "students"? Maybe you are that teacher that just comes into this world with a smile on your face and inspires someone to be happy about life. Teachers make an impact. Embrace being a teacher's child and decide what teacher you want to be!

In honor of Mother’s Day, I have been thinking of all the things my mom does for my family and me. Although I couldn’t write nearly all of them, here are a few things that moms do for us.

They find that shirt that’s right in front of you, but just you can’t seem to find.

10 Reasons To Thank Your Best Friend

Take the time to thank that one friend in your life you will never let go of.

Thank You on wooden blocks

1. Thank you for being the one I can always count on to be honest.

A true friend will tell you if the shirt is ugly, or at least ask to borrow it and "accidentally" burn it.

2. Thank you for accepting me for who I am.

A best friend will love you regardless of the stale french fries you left on the floor of your car, or when you had lice in 8th grade and no one wanted to talk to you.

Do as I say, not as I do.

Your eyes widen in horror as you stare at your phone. Beads of sweat begin to saturate your palm as your fingers tremble in fear. The illuminated screen reads, "Missed Call: Mom."

Growing up with strict parents, you learn that a few things go unsaid. Manners are everything. Never talk back. Do as you're told without question. Most importantly, you develop a system and catch on to these quirks that strict parents have so that you can play their game and do what you want.

"Friends" maybe didn’t have everything right or realistic all the time, but they did have enough episodes to create countless reaction GIFs and enough awesomeness to create, well, the legacy they did. Something else that is timeless, a little rough, but memorable? Living away from the comforts of home. Whether you have an apartment, a dorm, your first house, or some sort of residence that is not the house you grew up in, I’m sure you can relate to most of these!
