The Bees of all Knees

The Hercules In EVERY Situation

Now I bet you all are wondering what does C.H.I.T.E.W. stand for? And if you have already figured it out, props to you my friend. I am writing this because of all the thousands of people I have met in my lifetime, all the amazing people I have encountered and gotten to know, none of them compare to my dad. He is the bees of all knees, the Hercules in EVERY situation and most importantly the C.H.I.T.E.W.

Now I know there’s all kinds of dads out there: dads that spoil their little princesses (especially when you’re the baby of the family), dads that are sports fanatics and want their daughter to be the greatest of all greats, dads who teach girls how to farm and get dirty, dads who sit outside with a gun when you bring your first boyfriend home, and dads who love you unconditionally no matter how many tears you shed or how many times you fail.

My dad is all of the above and more, okay maybe he didn’t actually sit outside with a gun but it would not have surprised me. My dad is the most amazing human I have ever encountered. He has an undying faith with God that amazes me still to this day. A man who loses his wife and has to raise six kids on his own without wavering, without giving up, being the strongest man in their eyes is one who deserves to be nominated for sainthood.

He never missed a sporting event, never missed a parent teacher conference and never failed to steer us in the right direction when our paths wavered. Not only did my dad give us the best life possible but he did it humbly and thankfully. He never asked God why or stopped being a “dad” for a day. He gave everyone his all.

Never in my 21 years of life have I heard him say one bad thing about a person. I believe that he knows what it is like to be at your lowest point in life and to him that is nothing no one should ever have to feel or go through. He has taught me so much about how to laugh, enjoy the outdoors and sunshine, how to make it through the rough patches and most importantly how to live a humble, grateful life.

Now if you are lucky enough have a dad that is your hero, do not take it for granted. Thank the big guy upstairs for blessing you with the greatest thing you could ask for, a dad, the C.H.I.T.E.W. Coolest Human In The Entire World.

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

1. When course schedules are released and you have a conflict between two required classes.

Bonus points if it is more than two.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

As an English Major in college, I have a lot of writing and especially creative writing pieces that I work on throughout the semester and sometimes, I'll find it hard to get the motivation to type a few pages and the thought process that goes behind it. These are eleven thoughts that I have as a writer while writing my stories.

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
