To the hearts that are still healing, I know you.
I know you are looking at the world and wondering how to get through this day.
I know the tears that run down, and I see you quickly wiping them away.
I know the shame and guilt that you’re feeling.
I know.
It’s so hard to wake up every day and put a smile on your face. I know how hard it is to make friends, and relationships because of the fear of losing them. I know when the day runs out, the last things on your mind are the feelings. The waves, crushing you.
It can be sad. It can be painful. It can seem impossible.
But you can get through this.
You can overcome.
You are stronger.
And most importantly, you are not alone.
“This is what the Lord said, ‘I have heard your prayer and I have seen your tears, I will heal you.”
2 Kings 20:5 (ESV)
You are not alone in this.
Those nights when your thoughts turn into tears, you are not alone.
Those moments when you pretend to be fine, you are not alone.
Healing takes time. Healing takes effort. It doesn’t always happen the way you expect it to.
Sometimes, healing is the most painful experience we can go through. In those times we have the chance to look up and cry out to God. He is the one who will be there when no one else can possibly understand. He will be there when even you can’t understand everything you’re feeling.
Healing is hard, but it is possible.
Close your eyes, and breathe. Every time you feel overwhelmed and tired, remind yourself that you can get through this. Every time you feel like the thoughts in your head are impossibly loud. Every time you think that you are not worth it.
Pray.
Close your eyes and remind yourself that this isn’t forever. In the end it will not define who you are.
To the heart that is still healing, I see you. I know that it hurts. I know that each day seems long, and no amount of distraction can ever make it go away. I know that sometimes it’s easier to busy ourselves, than to sit down.
I know you’re tired. I know you’re worn.
But I also know you’re worth more.
When you make the decision to begin healing, part of you changes. All the weight you are carrying, you can give to God, and the weight will no longer bear down. It will still hurt, but with God, you can begin this journey.
And you can make it through.
Healing is possible.
To the heart that’s began healing, I see you. I know you. I am you.
