Never let anyone scare you from using your voice. After finishing watching my favorite book brought to the screen, I decided to vouch that this quote is the best from the book, and has taught me a lot more than just what nine words can say. 'The Hate U Give' is a controversial, meaningful, and substantial adaptation of the book written by Angie Thomas. This book genuinely brought tears to my eyes, and much like every inspirational book that completely gave me a new outlook on this world and my life. Likewise, the movie induced the same melancholy inspired feelings in me.
Filled with a throttle of raw and honest quotes, this movie broke the heart of every single viewer who watched it and gave brilliant advice to those standing up for what they believe in. The following is one example of a quote that really got me emotional: 'Sometimes you can do everything right and things will still go wrong. The key is to never stop doing right.'
Following the life of a young girl named Starr, whose name ended up speaking to her nature, 'The Hate U Give' taught an important lesson about speaking the truth to get justice, even if it's dangerous and puts your life at risk. Justice is always worth the cost- no matter what that cost may be. 16-year-old Starr risked her to live to get justice for her best friend who was unjustly murdered and received no justice for it until it was given when there was no other option but to protest and destroy the city in the process.
Starr's bravery spoke volumes to her independence and growth as a dynamic character, because at the beginning of the events of the story, she was way too terrified and apprehensive to even come out as being a witness to the horrible encounter. Although I don't want to spoil what I believe is one of the most awe-inspiring movies of the year, what I can say is that Starr's actions spoke to the bravery, determination, and independence that inspiring people engulf themselves in when they feel the need to find justice for someone who deserves it and can not physically get it themselves.
Although some things in life simply aren't fair, nor right, that doesn't mean that we should give up or fight back the wrong way. It means that we should work harder than ever, keep doing what is right, and take every right avenue that we can until we get the justice that is both needed and deserved.
The legacy of 'The Hate U Give' should live on for decades to come, in both literary and cinematic form, and I hope that every person is as inspired by its brave message as I am.
