To The Guy Who Isn't Ready

Maybe it just wasn't our time, maybe it was supposed to be this way.

To The Guy Who Isn't Ready

As I sit here contemplating about where we went wrong, we didn't. This semester started, and I was so in love with you. Then this last week, we began to fall into the stress of being in different majors. You are about to graduate and I will be here another year. My time at OU has been very short so far. Going into my second year, you are all I have known thus far. You have been there through all the milestones with my career so far. You've been with me through a major change, and doing something for me.

We agreed that this would be best for us mutually because we can't tell the future. Ultimately, I was not ready to let the chance of us working out, in the end, go. After our long talk, I talked to my friends about it. They said we did the right thing, but my heart was telling me otherwise. Regardless of what happens, I am going to be able to stand tall. I'd like to think like a pineapple.

Without you, it will be hard to move on and try and replace you. The things that I have discovered within myself, are things I will continue to use. I have realized that I am stronger than I originally thought. The top 5 things you have helped me discover within myself:

1. You made me believe in myself

You pushed me to believe in myself and all that I am capable of. This is because you made me see that my potential was truly there, you just brought it out in me.

2. Because of you, I am stronger

I never use to think I was not good enough, because of my past. I have had a very tough past and that is something you have accepted and made me understand that I am good enough.

3. You helped me imagine the bigger picture

Before this whole situation, I was not seeing how the bigger picture truly mattered. Now, I am understanding there is more to life than just what was in front of my eyes.

4. You showed me a better path

In the beginning, I had an idea of my path in life, but I was going about things completely wrong. You helped me come back from one of the darker places I have ever been.

5. You showed me I can do great things

You showed me how I can do things outside of the box. You made me get out of my comfort zone, and because of that, I discovered my passion. For this, I will never work a day in my life.

Regardless of what happens between us, I will always love you. You are one that cannot be replaced, and even though it wasn't our time. This does not mean that we aren't meant to be in the future, just not now. You still hold the key to my heart. Ultimately, I have to thank you for everything you have done. You have brought back the girl who lost herself in the process of discovering who she really was.

I love you...

10 Thoughts Of A 5th Year Senior

What about those of us who don't do it all in four years?

"College will be the best four years of your life" is a phrase that we have all heard growing up. College is painted as a magical place to us while we are in high school. A place you go to learn, meet your best friends and probably have the time of your life while all of this is going down. Four whirlwind years, where everything that you've known changes and you start to learn what it means to live on your own, have a job, etc. But what about those of us who don't do this all in four years? Major changes, hard courses, switching schools, career paths changing, these are just a handful of factors that could extend your four years to five, six or seven. There is nothing wrong with taking extra time to graduate, but returning as a fifth-year is a little different. Most of your best friends have most likely graduated and moved and while you may be one of the oldest undergraduates on campus, you might feel as awkward as a freshmen. A world that became home and comfortable to you is still there but it's slightly different than you've known it to be and you have to find a groove to fall into. These are thoughts you'll have as you look ahead to returning to your college campus, with a victory lap planned.

11 Times Aubrey Plaza Described Sophomore Year

"I don't want to do things. I want to do not things."

Aubrey Plaza is one of my favorite humans in Hollywood. She's honest, blunt, unapologetic, and hilarious. I just started my sophomore year of college, and found that some of her best moments can accurately describe the start of the school year.

1. When your advisor tells you that you should declare a major soon.

2. Seeing the lost and confused freshmen and remembering that was you a short year ago, and now being grateful you know the ins and outs of the campus.

3. Going to the involvement fair to sign up for more clubs knowing that you are already too involved.

4. When you actually do the reading required for the first class.

5. Seeing your friends for the first time since last semester.

6. When you're already drowning in homework during syllabus week.

7. Realizing you don't have the same excitement for classes as you did as a freshman.

8. Going home and seeing people from high school gets weirder the older you get.

Dear Mom,

You took care of me and my brothers our entire lives and you still continue to! I will not be able to truly grasp all of the hard work that you put into this family until I create my own one day. But, I know that there are plenty of times I forgot to give you a simple thank you or an appreciative smile. I thank you for everything that you have done for me and will continue to do for me. Here are some examples of those times where you had my back and I forgot to pat your back for saving me:

College is hard. As people ages 18-22, we’re just trying to figure out what we’re doing with our lives, our careers, our eating habits, exercise routines, sleep patterns, and other necessities for adult life. We definitely don’t take proper care of ourselves; it’s basically impossible when we have essays, tests and readings due and somehow we’re supposed to eat right, exercise and sleep. We’re doomed to get sick. I have zero experience in science but when I get sick there are certain things I do to make myself better.
