The Green Party's Stance In American Politics

Dr. Jill Stein, the current Green Party nominee for President of the United States, is keeping a vigilant eye on the current election’s proceedings. Having run back in 2012 and attaining .36 percent of the popular vote, Dr. Stein has decided to run once more with the Green Party, a party which boasts a commitment to, “…environmentalism, non-violence, social justice and grassroots organizing…” on their website. In modern-day America, the Green Party seems like a dream to those who lean to the left-wing of politics, but perhaps it could one day be a reality as the party gains more momentum in the whirlwind that the 2016 U.S. presidential election stands to be.

Today, many like Senator Bernie Sanders talk of the corruption that plagues our political system from the Republicans to the Democrats. The corruption, of course, all ties into money -- with money therefore playing a large part in why America can’t progress in the areas that matter. On Friday, April 15, Dr. Stein tweeted about Secretary Clinton’s role in this corruption saying, “Corporations aren't stupid. They have gotten a great return on their investments into Hillary Clinton's campaigns,” adding #ImWithJill at the end. With big businesses having so much clout in American politics, it’s difficult to ascertain the truth in many of the words our current nominees utter.

To CNN, Dr. Stein remarked, “Forward movement is a good thing, but I always include that it's not enough, and we have to have a base where we can truly build. That cannot be done inside of the corporate, establishment political parties,” when questioned about the Green Party’s opposition toward the Democratic Party.

In regards to Dr. Stein’s plan for a cleaner, better future uninfluenced by corporate, her Power to the People Planincludes A Green New Deal that focuses on a 100 percent dependent America on renewable energy by 2030 that will concurrently create millions of new jobs. This Power to the People Plan includes health care, education and jobs as rights, a $15 minimum wage, a foreign policy that is saturated in diplomacy and humanity and more. In order to read Dr. Stein’s platform, visit her website and read about how this cleaner, better future is in our handsand possible to achieve.

While the Green Party’s presence in the media isn’t as strong as the Democrat or Republican’s, it’s possible that its message will ring through the ears of the American people as Dr. Jill Stein continues to broadcast her plans.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
