In my opinion, the best movie of all time is The Princess Bride. People have tried to convince me other wise, but this will forever be my favorite filmall and here is a list ofreasons why
There's something for everyone
In The Princess Bride, there's pirates and princesses. There's Andre the Giant and a Sicilian. There's fighting, romance, and death. Rodents of unusual size and so much humor. If you can not get behind at least one of these things, then there's something wrong with you.
The movie is incredibly quotable
The best thing about The Princes Bride is that it is so quotable. Here's a few of my favorites
"As you wish"
"Anybody want a peanut?"
"Life is pain. Anyone who tells you differently is selling something"
"Have fun stormin' the castle"
"Inconceivable!"
"My name is Inigo Montoya. You killed my father. Prepare to die."
And this is only the beginning of some of the greatest quotes from this movie.
This is one of the best book-to-movie adaptations of all time
After watching this movie for most of my life, I decided to read the book. And it was one of the best decisions I have ever made. The Princess Bride is 493 pages long (that's more pages than the first three books in the Harry Potter series) and I feel like they were able to put at least 90% of the entire book into the film. There is only thing that they left out, that I wish had been included in the film. In the book, there is an entire chapter talking about how Prince Humperdink has this zoo. In the zoo, there's five different levels. He has this place, so he can practice killing things. I thought this was pretty important, because it revealed a lot more about him as a person, and more about his character.
It does not fit into any genre of film
I love the Princess Bride because it does not fit into one category. I feel it kind of just falls into its own little place. It could be considered romance, or action. Adventure, or even horror at parts. There's so much it offers, that it is perfect for any movie marathon
I could probably talk about this film for hours honestly. To me, this is the greatest film of all time, and nothing will be able to replace its special place in my heart.
