Ramen: all college students live off it, high schoolers snack on it, and you hope and pray that you don't have to live off it as an adult. But, the question arises, how does one properly make a bowl of ramen?
My sister and I debated this growing up. Do you add enough water to create a broth or do you add just enough so the noodles absorb all the water and flavor? I'm on the broth side so the noodles aren't too salty (like ramen will even be not a bowl of sodium). However, my sister prefers to have no broth, it creates a more creamy soft noodle that is a lot thicker noodle.
Then we get into the adding fancy things or leaving it plain. Kyle Jenner's ramen was a social media trend, including adding an egg, chives, and other spices. If you look for ramen upgrades on google you'll find endless options of ways to improve your 25 cent meal. I'll do all college students a favor and include a few recipes. I'm on the side of adding things if you can. If you can improve your meal, why wouldn't you?
Then you get into the which flavor is the best. You've got Chicken Flavor, Chicken Mushroom Flavor, Creamy Chicken Flavor, Roast Chicken Flavor, Picante Chicken Flavor, Beef Flavor, Sriracha Chicken, Picante Beef Flavor, Roast Beef Flavor, Shrimp Flavor, Lime Shrimp Flavor, Lime Chili Shrimp Flavor, Chili Flavor, Chicken Tortilla, Pork Flavor, and Oriental Flavor. If you haven't tried the Picante Chicken, you're missing out. Savory and spicy, it's a perfect combination.
As promised, here's a handy infographic of how to kick that ramen up enough if you're brave enough.
