It’s the time of year where Thanksgiving is just around the corner. The time when you can head back home, be thankful, spend time with family, and eat a lot of food. However, if you are lucky, you also get to see some of your best friends, something I like to call; Friendsgiving.
This is something that just adds to the time of year. You get to see all of your friends and just be thankful to have time with them. You are all off on new adventures and you don’t see each other often anymore, it’s hard, but you deal with it. It really makes you appreciate the friendships that you do have. People try to scare you and tell you that all of your friendships will die once you move off to college. They say that you lose touch and pretty soon you don’t see them unless you run into them somewhere unexpected. Maybe I’m just lucky enough to have friendships that haven’t died. We may not see each other every day anymore, maybe we can’t text quite as often but we make time to see each other every chance we get. We still care about what is going on, and we are still just as close as before graduation.
There are a lot of great things about Friendsgiving. I think the greatest thing is that you really get to appreciate the great friends that you have. Just the idea of Friendsgiving alone is amazing. You’re friends all set aside a time to get together, eat food, laugh, and have a good time. It makes me realized how blessed I really am to have friends that want to put time aside so that we can all spend time together. It may not be that big a deal to some people, but it’s great to know they are your people. It gives you a day to appreciate them and create memories. That’s what I love.
