The Great Debate: When Is The Right Time To Start Playing Christmas Music?

The Holiday Season is quickly approaching and it's time we all had this discussion. You know what I’m talking about, the great debate, when is the right time to start playing Christmas music. As we all know everyone has their different opinions on this topic. For example the radio stations and most department stores believe that Christmas music and sales should start on November 1st. With that data, I decided to poll my followers on Twitter and get some opinions other than my own. In the poll I asked “When is the right time to start playing thanksgiving music, November 1st, After Thanksgiving, or December 1st. “ Of the forty one people who voted in the poll, about 24% agreed that Christmas music should be played starting November 1st, 55% said that it should start after thanksgiving, and 21% said it should start on December 1st.

No one ever really tells us when is the right time to start playing Christmas music, but based on the poll I took it seems like most people prefer it after Thanksgiving. If you ask me that seems to be the perfect time. Thanksgiving falls on the last Thursday of November, meaning that December is less than a week away, so it makes sense that after Thanksgiving is the perfect time to start playing Christmas music. I feel like if you start playing Christmas music too early it gets people in the Christmas spirit too early and by the time Christmas actually rolls around their over it. I feel like Christmas music should be played right after thanksgiving and should play until the end of January. Most Christmas music has more of a wintery vibe and feel to it and I think that's why it should start after Thanksgiving and go until after Christmas.

I have to say I do understand the other perspectives, November first makes sense only because some people have to start doing their Christmas shopping earlier than others do, in order to budget their money better, so why not let them have the music while they shop. However I feel like we just got done Halloween and this allows for people to skip over Thanksgiving and go right to Christmas. I feel like we need to celebrate Thanksgiving even if not for the original meaning but just to be thankful for all that we have and for all the good that happened over the past year.

I also can appreciate that people want to wait until December, it gives people time to recover from Thanksgiving and start preparing for Christmas and all the joys that come with it. I think if you aren’t gonna start playing the Christmas music right after Thanksgiving then why not wait until December 1st to start indulging and all the joys and fun of Christmas.

When it all comes down to it start celebrating whenever you are ready to as long as you spread joy and cheer throughout the Christmas season!

If I have learned one thing in my lifetime, it is that friends are a privilege. No one is required to give you their company and yet there is some sort of shared connection that keeps you together. And from that friendship, you may even find yourself lucky enough to have a few more friends, thus forming a group. Here are just a few signs that prove your current friend group is the ultimate friend group.

When it comes to television, there’s very few sets of on-screen siblings that a lot of us can relate to. Only those who have grown up with siblings knows what it feels like to fight, prank, and love a sibling. Ross and Monica Geller were definitely overbearing and overshared some things through the series of "Friends," but they captured perfectly what real siblings feel in real life. Some of their antics were funny, some were a little weird but all of them are completely relatable to brothers and sisters everywhere.

Every kid in college and/or high school dreams of summer the moment they walk through the door on the first day back in September. It becomes harder and harder to focus in classes and while doing assignments as the days get closer. The winter has been lagging, the days are short and dark, and no one is quite themselves due to lack of energy and sunlight. Let's face it: life is ten times better in the summertime.
