The Gospel Story

No fancy words, just the raw message of hope

The cost of sin is eternal death. Over two thousand years ago, Jews sacrificed the purest animals in order to pay that price. Blood was shed, sins were forgiven, and they were saved from an eternal death. Then Jesus came. Jesus is the Son of God. Two thousand years ago Jesus lived a perfect life here on earth. He had no sin. He had no shame. He needed no sacrifice. But His Father called Jesus to be the pure sacrifice for all.

This perfect man hung on the cross with his hands and feet nailed to the wood. He wore a crown of thorns that pierced into his head. He was cruelly beaten and chastised, but for what? He had done no wrong. He had committed no sin. He simply called Himself the Son of God, and people were outraged. They wondered why He was held at such high regard. Those people filled with jealousy and envy thought they were the ones that sent Jesus to the cross. In reality, His Father did. His Father sent Him to the cross for you.

After a beating so gory and painful, Jesus died on that cross. They buried Him in a tomb, but three days later He rose from the dead. Jesus defeated death and the devil. Death no longer had a grip on Him or His children. After roaming the earth a little longer, Jesus went back to Heaven to reign with His Father. He’s now preparing a place for His children.

You can be His child. He created you, but you have to accept Him. He was your sacrifice, and you have to ask Him to forgive you for the sin that sent Him to the cross. Once He saves you, He does life with you. He grows you and shapes you. As you love Him more, you obey Him more. After you obey Him more, you submit to Him more. When you submit to Him, He leads you in ways you never imagined. He is your guide and your comfort. He’s your friend.

When Jesus paid that price, the price was paid for eternity. There would be no more blood sacrifices for sin because Jesus was the blood sacrifice for all. He was the blood sacrifice for you. Just like any gift, you have to accept in order to receive. Jesus has offered you the gift of salvation. You just have to receive it before it’s yours.

Jesus paid the price of death so we could experience eternity in heaven with Him after living a life led by Him here. The cross was the ultimate picture of love. Jesus died for you. He wants to save you from eternal death. He wants to do life with you, leading you in the way you should go. He wants to spend eternity with you.

Jesus is my Savior. He saved me from the path to hell. He does life with me, leading me and showing me the way. He is my comfort and my friend. He is my love and my life. It’s only through Him that I wake up every day with a purpose-to show other’s His hope and His love. I’ve experienced His love and His presence in my own life. I promise He’s worth it. He’s worth anything it would take for you to accept Him. His arms are open and His love is strong, you need only to accept Him in.

It's not all morning coffees and singing along to the radio.

The Daily Struggles of Being a College Commuter

I've been in college for four years now. I spent half my time as a commuter and half as a resident so I've experienced both sides of the housing spectrum. One thing I've learned comparing the two is that my struggles as a commuter far outweigh anything I went through while living on campus. Commuters have to deal with the problems school brings along with a slew of other issues; I've filled up my gas tank in the worst kind of weather conditions and napped in random places in public more times than I'm proud to say of. This is a list of some of the most challenging aspects of being a commuter.

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!
