Lots of people tune in every week to get their fix of sitcom television shows. By a lot, I mean millions. Millions of people all over the United States take time out of the evening to watch hilarious and crazy situations happen to their favorite characters. People laugh until their stomachs are sore and there are tears in their eyes. It brings people together and allows people to enjoy themselves even if it is just for thirty minutes. With the upcoming fall television season approaching quickly and new shows premiering soon, I want to bring attention to one of the best sitcoms on television right now.
The Good Place.
This show is the perfect balance of comedic genius and drama with an amazing plot to go with it. The characters are all unique in their own ways and different from any characters other current sitcoms right now. Each episode flows together to make for a unique story that captures the viewer's attention and their hearts. And this fall, the fourth and final season is airing on NBC, so I thought I should bring some attention to how great this show is.
The plot of the show itself is simple. Four characters have all died and they now reside in the good place. A place where they can live out their afterlife happily. Of course, the problem with that is that Eleanor, our main character (played by Kristen Bell), doesn't belong there. They've gotten her mixed up with a woman with the same name and all of the good deeds that woman accomplished while living. From then on, chaos takes over the good place in more ways than just Eleanor's misplacement. At the end of season one, we get the plot twist of a lifetime.
SPOILER ALERT, the good place is really the bad place.
From then on we get crazy antics from our six main characters as they try to sneak their way into the real good place. From getting chased by demons to meeting with the judge aka god herself (yes, god is a woman), to falling in love. The show has it all and with each character having their own quirks and flaws that are somewhat endearing, it makes for a wholesome thirty minutes of entertainment each week. In combination with the amazing and diverse actors that make up the show, you really can't get a better television show. So if you're interested it in added a wholesome television show to your weekly watch, try watching The Good Place and I swear you won't be disappointed.
