The Good in Miley Cyrus

Inspiring the young adults

For the past three years the world has watched Miley Cyrus go from a cute and innocent teen to a rebellious adult. Older adults regard Miley as a bad influence through the risqué behavior she portrays on social media and suggestive performance she did during her Bangerz tour in 2014. Young adults see this notion as a way for her to put behind the controlling Disney Channel lifestyle in order for her to embody the person she wants to be. While this interpretation is bias considering I am a huge fan of Miley, I could confidently declare that older adults and those in power to be a bad role model for the younger generation.

One unspoken fact is that Miley’s behavior is not intended to inspire the younger generation anymore. In fact, Miley is not even a Disney star anymore. She has transitioned into an independent women-inspiring young adults to embrace any person they want to be. This does not mean that in order to be a happy independent individual one is required to follow her particular example. Overall, Miley is proving that no one should hold you back from your own happiness.

Miley Cyrus doesn’t let anyone control her.

Throughout her life as a Hannah Montana superstar, her life was structured in a particular way. Her entirety of her teenage life was manipulated by powerful adults telling her to act a certain way and portray a certain character. Miley Cyrus, in fact, lost sense of authenticity and strayed away from developing her own individuality. Once she let go of this lifestyle, she instantly became a new and independent person. Despite negative reactions, Miley stopped catering to the people in power’s order. While she has developed a behavior that goes against societal norms and creates controversies amongst adults, Miley embraces the way she is and has created her own happiness. This notion serves as a constant reminder for young adults to stop caring how others perceive you to be. Miley serves as a pure example of not letting others, especially the media, control the way you live your life and prevent you from having happiness.

Miley Cyrus is aware of social movements.

As an LGBQTI Activist as well as a strong feminist, Miley has developed a profound recognition of what is happening in our current world. This recognition has influenced her to put social issues at hand and has developed power to change our society in a positive light. While it can be difficult to accept her authority and serious stance on particular social justice issues because of the way she behaves herself, she continues to passionately have developed opinions about certain topics. In her recently established non-profit organization called Happy Hippie Foundation, she has devoted to helping homeless youth, particular, LGBQTI youth. This social justice foundation has formulated awareness of the issues of homeless youth within this particular population. This awareness is one step closer to articulating a more unified society. Without the guidance of Miley herself, we would continue to not do anything about the homeless rate found within the LGBQTI movement.

In general, Miley is considerable known as a human ready to inspire young adults to embrace the person you want to be without having outside sources to control you. That in itself truly makes optimistic light of Miley Cyrus despite the way media portrays her to be.

10 Thoughts Of A 5th Year Senior

What about those of us who don't do it all in four years?

"College will be the best four years of your life" is a phrase that we have all heard growing up. College is painted as a magical place to us while we are in high school. A place you go to learn, meet your best friends and probably have the time of your life while all of this is going down. Four whirlwind years, where everything that you've known changes and you start to learn what it means to live on your own, have a job, etc. But what about those of us who don't do this all in four years? Major changes, hard courses, switching schools, career paths changing, these are just a handful of factors that could extend your four years to five, six or seven. There is nothing wrong with taking extra time to graduate, but returning as a fifth-year is a little different. Most of your best friends have most likely graduated and moved and while you may be one of the oldest undergraduates on campus, you might feel as awkward as a freshmen. A world that became home and comfortable to you is still there but it's slightly different than you've known it to be and you have to find a groove to fall into. These are thoughts you'll have as you look ahead to returning to your college campus, with a victory lap planned.

11 Times Aubrey Plaza Described Sophomore Year

"I don't want to do things. I want to do not things."

Aubrey Plaza is one of my favorite humans in Hollywood. She's honest, blunt, unapologetic, and hilarious. I just started my sophomore year of college, and found that some of her best moments can accurately describe the start of the school year.

1. When your advisor tells you that you should declare a major soon.

2. Seeing the lost and confused freshmen and remembering that was you a short year ago, and now being grateful you know the ins and outs of the campus.

3. Going to the involvement fair to sign up for more clubs knowing that you are already too involved.

4. When you actually do the reading required for the first class.

5. Seeing your friends for the first time since last semester.

6. When you're already drowning in homework during syllabus week.

7. Realizing you don't have the same excitement for classes as you did as a freshman.

8. Going home and seeing people from high school gets weirder the older you get.
