What It's Like To Be Invited To The Golden Globes 24 Hours Prior

Let's be real... This thing called my life has become unreal.

Dear Readers:

Still can't get over went down Sunday night and I think I never will be able to. So. Here goes nothing.

Saturday night -- my last night in D.C. -- I went out to dinner with my family to an Italian restaurant. Mid-bite of my pasta (I know, not the ideal food to eat the night before an awards show...), the executive producer of my new HBO web series "Choices,"that some awesome women in film and I are working on (I'm producing!), invites me to the Golden Globes. THE. GOLDEN. GLOBES. I was SO stoked but then I realized I had to wake up at 3 a.m. the next morning to return to Los Angeles for my second semester of freshman year at USC... I would be so tired, jet-lagged, and gross, how would I make it to the red carpet looking 10/10? How would I attend when I had the first day of school the next morning at 8 a.m.? A million questions like this raced through my mind, but it all worked out though, because I am an somehow expert at always getting myself together miraculously within minutes of a big event!

Why pay for a completely new designer red carpet outfit when your mother's closet is basically a trendy department store? After dinner, we picked out one of her designer dresses (Amanda Wakeley) and some YSL Tributes & clutch from her closet, threw it into my suitcase, and it was decided... I was going! Once I arrived in L.A. bright & early the next morning, my best friend and I went up to my dorm room, turned on one of my lit playlists and then hair and makeup commenced. Below you can see an image of my best friend dumping heaps of glitter on my eyelids.

I then did the rest of my makeup. Brows: Anastasia Beverly Hills; lashes: YSL; lipstick: MAC; contour: CoverFX; blush- "Orgasm," NARS. And, of course, my signature perfume, "Chance" by Chanel.

Next, I curled my hair. My favorite iron is the long-hair classic curl GHD iron.

After that, my best friend insisted on sending me off to the Globes prom-style. In other words, she played the role of mom, snapping tons of solo pics of me, but then ultimately getting all teary-eyed and taking pics of her bon voyage to me, LOL.

People in my dorm gave me a few weird looks because I guess I looked super fancy, but it's all good, because, later, they figured out what this girl was up to. 😎 It was a YASSSS QUEEN moment, as I glamorously got into my Uber and drove off to the Globes pre-party.

As always in Los Angeles, the Uber takes forever a.k.a TWO HOURS (😳!!!!!) to get from USC to the red carpet. I spent the ride excitedly texting my friends, receiving calls from my industry friends asking where I was, and, of course, taking selfies and glam shots. 👄

Upon arriving at the pre-party red carpet event at an extremely well-known director's home in the Hills, I was welcomed by my cast, crew, as well as longtime industry friends. We obvi took just a few red carpet photos. My favorite of which is the photo of my all-female crew for "Choices"#GIRLBOSS af.

At the actual Golden Globes awards ceremony, our cell phones and cameras were taken away by the security guards, so I unfortunately, do not have any cringe-worthy nip slips or celebrity ugly sneezing faces to show you 😢; however, I do have the ability to confirm that this went down 🤘🏼

The highlight of my evening was spending 40 minutes talking with the one and only Robert De Niro. We talked about great films, the advancement of television into cinematic quality, and how he thinks I'm the next big producer of this generation. Woah. Yeah. THAT happened. Even got to snap a selfie of him with some of the girls from my " Choices" crew and me!

Attending the pre-party, red carpet, awards show, and, of course, after party for the Golden Globes was a life-changing experience (it's so different from watching them on TV like I did my whole life, just wishing you were there and feeling jealous rather than nothing but respect for your favorite fellow artists who are standing like two feet away from you! Hi Leo!), and I truly hope that each and every one of you eventually get to be a part of such an inclusive, magical, and utterly astounding community of your fellow whatevers. Doctors. Lawyers. Painters. Or, in my case, industry people.

Being valued as an integral creator in the Hollywood entertainment industry is a feeling unlike any other. I feel so lucky that I have somehow been able to be in the right place at the right time with the right talents/skill set to be blessed enough to live the life I lead today. Thank you to everyone who helped me get here, and to those who continue to support and elevate my career daily. Keep on following my adventures throughout Los Angeles, the Industry, and the world. Until next week... Yours truly is exploring as always.

Grateful,
ARW

We don't buy into these... just like how we don't buy our friends.

Being a part of any organization undoubtedly comes with the pitfalls of being grouped into negative stereotypes, and sororities are certainly no exception. Here are the top few things, that I find at least, are some of the most irritating misconceptions that find their way into numerous conversations...

8. "The whole philanthropy thing isn't real, right?"

Well all those fundraisers and marketing should would be a waste then wouldn't they?

11 Things Summer Nannies Can Relate To

There are plenty of obstacles that come when taking care of kids, but it's a very rewarding experience.

As a college student, being a nanny over the summer is both enjoyable and challenging. Underneath the seemingly perfect trips to the pool or countless hours spent playing Monopoly are the obstacles that only nannies will understand. Trading in your valuable summer vacation in return for three months spent with a few children less than half your age may seem unappealing, but so many moments make it rewarding. For my fellow summer nannies out there, I know you can relate.

There are a lot of really easy, common names in the U.S. and while many of those simple names have different spellings, most of the time, pronunciation is not an issue that those people need to worry about. However, others are not as fortunate and often times give up on corrections after a while. We usually give an A+ for effort. So, as you could probably imagine, there are a few struggles with having a name that isn’t technically English. Here are just a few…

Daydreaming

day·dream (ˈdāˌdrēm/): a series of pleasant thoughts that distract one's attention from the present.

Daydreams, the savior of our life in class. Every type of student in the classroom does it at least once, but most cases it is an everyday event, especially in that boring class -- you know the one. But what are we thinking while we are daydreaming?

Puerto Ricans. They are very proud people and whether they were born on the island or born in the United States by Puerto Rican parent(s). It gets even better when they meet another fellow Puerto Rican or Latino in general. You’ll know quickly if they are Puerto Rican whether the flag is printed somewhere on their person or whether they tell you or whether the famous phrase “wepa!” is said.
