The ideal New Year's Eve evening that consists of parties, really cute pictures, and a kiss at midnight is not always a reality. Sometimes you spend it alone, just with friends, or with your family. And that's okay. You might not have received that coveted kiss, but here's some things you gained.
One less kiss that isn't with your future husband.
Because those will be special, and just keep in mind as you're in the dumps about not having a kiss that one day you will have a for sure kiss every year. And he will be worth the wait.
An awesome night of binge-watching Netflix.
Okay, not as sentimental as the first. But who doesn't love a good night of Netflix and a bubble bath?
Being surrounded by your friends.
One day, they won't be around as much. It's important to share these times with them while you still can before you all have families of your own and go your separate ways.
Weight.
Let's be honest with ourselves. Whatever alcohol or food you consumed in place of that kiss will show. But hey that's what the average "I'll work out more" New Year's resolution is for, right?
Perspective.
It gives you a minute to step back and focus on YOU and not the other person. Reflect on yourself and what you want to do this year for YOU.
Confidence.
This may or may not be true for some, but for me I feel more confident knowing I'm not kissing someone who doesn't care and that I'm not wasting my time on. You do you.
Appreciation.
Whether it's the people that consoled you or the memories you have from past years, you gain a new appreciation for them knowing that that kiss won't come this year.
Pucker up to the New Year! It's going to be sweet, smooth, and hopefully tastes minty fresh. Your kiss will come, if not next year then another. Stay positive. God wouldn't let you kiss someone if it weren't for the better. Stay patient. Don't waste your precious kisses on some stranger just because you are lonely. YOU are worth it. YOU deserve someone special. And YOU are fabulous.
P.S. Just imagine Zac Efron and you'll also feel 10 times better.
Happy New Year!
