Girl... it's OK.

You're worrying about a lot, more than you need to be worrying about if we're being completely honest. The minute you wake up things start flooding your brain faster than you can sort them out.

Its okay that you skip class sometimes. Not everyone is perfect. So what, you overslept and now you're going to beat yourself up about it? Chill out, go back to sleep, and try again next time.

It's okay that you aren't the skinniest. Are you happy? That is all that matters in the long run. Who cares if you aren't stick thin all the time. Eat a large pizza if you want to. Go to the gym and eat right if you want to. Don't do what you think society wants you to do.

It's okay that you don't have a boyfriend. Seeing girls in perfect relationships sucks. We do know, however, that what they have may not be perfect. Remember that not every relationship is lived exactly how it is portrayed. You are probably way happier alone than they are in a relationship.

It's okay that you don't know what you want to do. Today, tomorrow, or in ten years, its totally normal to not have a plan set in stone. Life is scary. Shit gets tough a lot. One tragic event, one denied loan, or one mess up can completely screw up any plan. Don't worry, girl. Things happen for a reason. You'll end up where you need to end up.

It's okay if certain people don't like you. You can't help who you are. The only person you can be is you. Take pride in who you are, have your own morals and standards, and hold up a big middle finger to anyone who is in your way. So what if some girl doesn't like you? Carry on.

It's okay to say no. You don't have to say yes to everything. You don't have to be the president of everything, you don't have to be on every committee, and you sure as hell don't owe anyone anything. Know your limits. Don't fill your plate up too much, because then you'll have no room for desert.

It's okay to doubt yourself. Having self confidence is a very important part of someones personality, but so is their ability to doubt themselves. Most of the time when you doubt yourself you end up impressing yourself in the end. So go ahead and set low standards for yourself, because I guarantee you're going to blow yourself away when its all said and done.

It's okay to worry. Say what?! You heard me. Its okay to worry, sometimes. Its okay to worry about a test grade, an application, etc. So don't waste your time worrying about yourself. You are doing just fine.

In case you're unaware, "resting bitch face" is the term used to describe when a person's natural, expressionless face makes it look like they are mad at the world. Whether they are walking down the street or simply spacing out thinking about what to eat for dinner, it's very easy for others to assume that this person is either upset or mad at them. Because of this, those of us with Resting Bitch Face (RBF), and especially us women, have all experienced many of the same situations and conversations, including:

We've all had a crush before. Whether it leads to something or nothing, the process has all been the same. The awkward feelings, the stalking, and the stress of trying to keep this huge secret. The feeling of becoming a total spazz is something that cannot be avoided, and the most spazzy family that can relate to this feeling is the Belcher's.

At the tender age of 18, we are bestowed with the title of “adult.” For 17 years, we live under the rules and guidelines of our parents, school, and government, and to stray from any of those rules or guidelines marks us as a rebel. At 18, though, we must choose which college we want to go to or what career we want. We are allowed and encouraged to vote. We can buy lottery tickets and cigarettes. We can drop out of school, leave our household, and do other "adult" things. At 18, we start down a path of thinking for ourselves, when for the entirety of our lives other institutions have been mandated to think and do for us.

What about those of us who don't do it all in four years?

"College will be the best four years of your life" is a phrase that we have all heard growing up. College is painted as a magical place to us while we are in high school. A place you go to learn, meet your best friends and probably have the time of your life while all of this is going down. Four whirlwind years, where everything that you've known changes and you start to learn what it means to live on your own, have a job, etc. But what about those of us who don't do this all in four years? Major changes, hard courses, switching schools, career paths changing, these are just a handful of factors that could extend your four years to five, six or seven. There is nothing wrong with taking extra time to graduate, but returning as a fifth-year is a little different. Most of your best friends have most likely graduated and moved and while you may be one of the oldest undergraduates on campus, you might feel as awkward as a freshmen. A world that became home and comfortable to you is still there but it's slightly different than you've known it to be and you have to find a groove to fall into. These are thoughts you'll have as you look ahead to returning to your college campus, with a victory lap planned.
