Sometimes, being in a sorority is hard. We are constantly stereotyped and hated on. The hate usually comes from people who don't understand our sisterhood or people who have only heard the negatives about sorority life. I constantly read things or hear people say things that degrade sorority life. Now, I'm not trying to complain, I'm just tired of people hating on us. Sororities are full of good things. Personally, my sorority is one of the best things that has ever happened to me. Sure, we have some drama every now and then, but it's a house full of girls, there is going to be drama sometimes. What frustrates me is that people don't take the time to see all the positives.

1. Greek life usually has the higher grade point average over the rest of campus. We have study hours and we try our best in school WHILE managing social events and meetings.

2. We have an endless support system. Whenever I have a bad day, I always have someone there to help me through it. When I am stressed, there is someone there to make me feel calm again. There are about 80 girls standing behind you who are on your side and ready to help you with whatever you may need.

3. Two words: community service. Sororities have philanthropies in which we raise money for different things. In my sorority, we have a national philanthropy where we do Rocking for Robbie. This is where we rock in rocking chairs for many hours. All this money goes to help children through children's play therapy. We also have a local philanthropy, United Way. We do many things with this local philanthropy and they love having us volunteer for them. Not only do we have these, but we have required community service hours that we have to do outside of our own events too.

4. We have a strict "no hazing" policy. This is a real policy within Tri Sigma. Sigmas do not haze. We strongly support no hazing and this is a big reason why Greek life is frowned upon. Yeah, some chapters haze, but not all sororities and fraternities do. There is a huge movement going on to end hazing all together, so we are working on it. Also, I know for a fact that my university is against hazing.

5. Job opportunities are easy to come by when you are a part of Greek life. When applying for jobs, it looks really good on a resume when you are a part of a sorority or fraternity. There are also many internships easily available to Greek life and other great opportunities when looking for a job.

These are just a few of the things we do that are GOOD. People need to start looking at all the positive things we do instead of what just one certain sorority chapter did wrong. I am not a bad person for being in a sorority. I wear my letters proudly. If you have negative comments, keep them to yourself because we sorority girls are very strong-willed and I don't think you could win the argument. I love Greek life and being in a sorority; I am a better person because of it.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
