I am a die hard lover of all things college sports. Football, basketball, lacrosse, baseball you name it. Growing up, after my field hockey and lacrosse games, I was always watching Notre Dame football or lacrosse. It was easily my favorite day of the week. As I got older, my love for the sports only grew and during my sophomore year of high school, my dad surprised me with tickets to see Notre Dame play Navy at FedEx Stadium. Despite the cold weather that night, nothing beat the feeling of seeing those gold helmets in person while watching one of my favorite sports. That moment of just me and my dad being at the game meant more to me than words could ever describe.
Following college sports was just one of those things that eventually became a part of my every day life. I enjoyed watching and learning about different collegiate teams, watching how they play against one another while learning the history of each team's success. There had always been something intriguing about sports and now I can't imagine my life without the joys of watching college sports and getting excited about game days. For me, learning about the roster makes each season different and exciting.
Even long after each player goes into a professional league, I always follow up with players in the major leagues to see how they're doing. On Sundays, I'll keep up with various NFL games that I know previous Fighting Irish players have been drafted to. It makes me so proud and happy to see the athletes I supported for four long years make me super happy. There's just an excitement surrounding early games days or crazy intense matchups.
Nowadays, I like seeing my own college soar. Washington College Women's Softball recently had a huge victory over Salisbury for the first time in 19 years. Those are the kind of moments worth witness to me. The intensity of games always make cheering for them a thousand times better.
