Yes, I am 19-years-old, and I have never had a boyfriend. And I am not talking about those elementary school boyfriends that lasted a week. I am talking about a real boyfriend. Shocking, right? I have never had a Valentine. I have never been on a date. I have never shared a New Year's kiss with anyone. I have never held a boy's hand in a movie theater. I have never taken a cute couple Instagram picture. Nothing. Nada.
I know what you are thinking: "Wow, that's really sad," or "Yikes, she must be lonely," but I am actually okay with this. I am okay because I know my time will come. One day I will get all of these things I have waited 19 years for. One day God is going to bring that special person in my life. Yes, I have never had a boyfriend, but I have actually been in a relationship; incomparable to any relationship I will ever have, and that is my relationship with Jesus. When I feel alone, He is always there to talk to me. When I feel like everyone around me is in a happy relationship and I am not, I remember the joy I have in my life because of Jesus Christ.
I am not going to say that going 19 years without a boyfriend has been the easiest thing. There have been times when I feel like my life will be like this forever. I have felt sad when I am stuck at home and all my friends are going on dates with their boyfriends/girlfriends. I have said the phrase "forever alone" more than once in my life. But with all this, I have learned one thing-- patience. I have prayed and prayed and prayed for God to send me someone, but he quietly answers "just wait." He has a plan. Actually, he has the most beautiful plan I could ever imagine for me.
So, if you are that girl like me that has never had a boyfriend, you are not alone. I am right there with you, girl. Don't give up hope. God has a great plan for you that He can't wait to show you in His time.
"18 Jacob was in love with Rachel and said, 'I’ll work for you seven years in return for your younger daughter Rachel.' 19Laban said, 'It’s better that I give her to you than to some other man. Stay here with me.' 20So Jacob served seven years to get Rachel, but they seemed like only a few days to him because of his love for her." (Genesis 29:18-20)
