To The Girl Who Doesn't Have Her Sh*t Together

To the girl who doesn't have her shit together, like at all,

Its 7:50am and you were supposed to leave for class 10 minutes ago, but you overslept..again. Most likely, your only exercise for the day will be across campus to your 8:00am. You put on your good sweatshirt (the one with only 1 coffee stain) and head out the door, totally not ready to face the day. You're tired all the time, and every day feels like a Monday morning. You wear leggings and sweatshirts every day because you're constantly "over it" and at this point Starbucks pretty much runs in your veins. You are sick of being let down. You want to give up. Procrastination is your middle name and lately it seems like you've been having more breakdowns than breakthroughs.

SO WHAT! So what you don't have your life together and so what if you're a hot mess. Don't give up.

Nobody does life at the same pace, NOBODY. Everyone has a different journey and that's okay. Remember, "life is a marathon, not a sprint" and crap like that. But really, don't get so hung up on what everyone else is doing that you forget to live your own life and be proud of the progress you are making. Its okay if you don't graduate in 4 years, its okay not to get a killer job right out of college, and its okay to wear leggings every day to class. Always do the most you can with whatever you're given. You've got to keep your head up and keep pursuing your dreams. Don't let the crap life throws at you slow you down.

You're trying and thats all you can do. Eventually everything will fall into place, but until it does just keep trying. Its taken me 3 years to realize that life doesn't go according to when I've written and color coded in my Kate Spade planner.

Love, the hot mess in a sweatshirt

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

1. When course schedules are released and you have a conflict between two required classes.

Bonus points if it is more than two.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

As an English Major in college, I have a lot of writing and especially creative writing pieces that I work on throughout the semester and sometimes, I'll find it hard to get the motivation to type a few pages and the thought process that goes behind it. These are eleven thoughts that I have as a writer while writing my stories.

For many undergraduates across the nation, the home stretch has begun. Only one more semester remains in our undergraduate career. Oh, the places we will go! For the majority of college seniors, this is simultaneously the best and worst year out of the past four and here’s why.

1. The classes you are taking are actually difficult.

A schedule full of easy pottery throwing and film courses is merely a myth on the average campus. With all of those prerequisites for the upper-level courses and the never-ending battle you fight each year during registration for limited class seats, senior year brings with it the ability to register for the final courses you need to fulfill your major. Yet, these are not the easy entry level courses. These are the comprehensive, end of major, capstone courses designed to apply the knowledge from all your previous courses, usually in the form of an extensive research paper or engaged learning project. The upside is you actually probably really enjoy these classes but alas there is no room for slackers here.
