The Friend We Call "Mom"

List of Thanks owed to you

Aside from our biological mother, it’s safe to say that we all have that one friend that at some point or another, is labeled as “Mom.” Whether it’s being the responsible one, or simply consoling others, us children appreciate you as a third parent. Here are a list of thanks owed to you and every thing you do.

1.Listening to our problems and giving us advice

Sometimes, we all just need to vent and the Mom is a perfect listener. Thank you for always knowing the right thing to say exactly when I need to hear it.

2.The Cold hard truth

And for those times when we need someone to listen, thank you for always giving your honest opinion whether it’s what we want to hear or not.

3.Being there for a crisis, big or small.

In the midst of a freak out ranging from deciding what shoes to wear before going out, or figuring out what I want to do with my life, thank you for simply being there to guide me in the right direction. Sometimes all it takes is for your opinion on a situation and the day is saved.

4.Putting the wellbeing of others before yourself and making sure we don’t do anything stupid.

Thanks for enforcing the “make good decisions” line that my actual parents encourage. Always being the responsible one may get tiring, but if it wasn’t for you looking out for everyone else’s safety… out of poor decisions would come poor consequences, for you to deal with as well.

5.Being Protective

Thank you for being sometimes even over protective, whether it’s making sure I get home safe, texting you when I get where I say I'm going, or always looking out for my well being. If I have a problem with someone, you most likely do too and won’t allow anyone to hurt my feelings.

6.Supporting us in everything we do

Thank you for getting just as excited if not more about all of my accomplishments whether it’s a good test grade, playing in a sports game, or even choosing a college. Your constant support and encouragement means more than you realize.

7.Dropping everything for others and being the most loyal friend out there.

No matter what time day or night, I know you would do anything to be there in a second. Thank you for being you and always looking out for me!

18 Things I Want To Do Now That I'm 18

I'm technically an adult, so I'm legally required to live a little, right?

For the entirety of my high school career, I was always seen as the goody-two-shoes. I never got in trouble with a teacher, I kept stellar grades, and when I wasn't doing extracurricular activities, I was at home studying. Even when I did go out, it was usually with a bunch of fellow band geeks. The night would end before 11:00 PM and the only controversial activity would be a fight based on who unfairly won a round of Apples-to-Apples when someone else clearly had a better card (I promise I'm not still holding a grudge).

Now that I'm officially an adult, I want to pursue some new things. I want to experience life in a way that I never allowed myself to do prior to entering college. These are the years that I'm supposed to embark on a journey of self-discovery, so what better way to do that than to create a bucket list?
