Sports are one of the most magical things in life. They are unpredictable, and miracles can happen in them everyday. So what makes them even better? When the stakes are raised in tournament format. For this week, here is the four best sport tournaments in the world.
The Olympics
The Olympics are undoubtedly a very special tournament. For many sports, it is the only time every four years they get to perform in front of a national audience. From fencing, to water polo, to bobsledding, to curling, it seems each Olympics a new sport starts trending and grows in popularity. Then on top of that, there are few things that fuel an athlete's passion more than playing for their country.
The Little League World Series
This was almost every little kids dream, including mine, growing up. To play with your best friends and make memories you’ll have for the rest of your life is unlike anything else. It is the closest thing that a 12 year old can get to experiencing what it is like being a professional baseball player. Plus, factor in that you can only qualify for the tournament for two or three years makes it all the more rare to be a part of.
The World Cup
Participating in the World Cup is almost, if not, just as rare as participating in The Little League World Series. Realistically players will participate in four at the absolute most because it only occurs every four years so four tournaments spreads to 16 years, which is a extraordinarily long playing career for a player even in soccer. You basically have to win one game at least to advance to a one and done round of 16. That is a lot of pressure for games that often result in one-goal differences and only occur once every four years. Soccer is also the most popular sport in the world so everyone across the world tunes in and unlike the olympics, it is only one sport. That adds even more pressure to have basically your entire country watching you play.
March Madness
Speaking of one and done tournaments, time to discuss the king of them. The NCAA basketball tournament is unlike any other. Magical runs can happen and every year there is a cinderella story. It makes for much watch TV, especially because for many of these athletes it could be the final game of their careers. The passion is unmatched and the unpredictability is unlike any other tournament.
