The Flawless Fall Bucket List

It is officially October, which means it doesn't matter if you are in sunny Arizona, where it still feels like summer, or somewhere else where you are enjoying the changing leaves... it is all about fall! With so many fun things to do, it can be hard to not forget something. Follow this list to make sure you take advantage of everything fall has to offer!

1. Swap out your summer clothes for your fall clothes

It is time to put away those short shorts and crop tops and take out your boots, sweaters and scarves!

2. Order a pumpkin spice latte

Would it really be the perfect fall bucket list if I didn't mention it?

3. Turn a pumpkin into a jack-o-lantern

It's a tradition. You have to do it.

4. Invest in a new fall candle

Apple Cider... Cinnamon Stick... Pumpkin Spice... the scents are endless and you can never have too many!

5. Go apple picking

After, you can make homemade applesauce or an apple pie!

6. Stock up on Halloween candy

Maybe you don't go trick-or-treating anymore, but that doesn't mean you have to miss out on one of the best parts...the candy.

7. Host a movie night and eat all your Halloween candy

Get out all of your favorite Halloween movies and have a movie marathon with your best friends. Who could say no to Hocus Pocus??

8. Go on a day trip

Take a day off and enjoy some quality time with your besties!

9. Invest in some new socks

You can never have too many pairs of fuzzy socks!

10. Bake a homemade pie

Pumpkin... Pecan... Berry... whatever your heart desires!

11. Tailgate

Thank goodness it is still football season. Cheer on your team while enjoying the outdoors!

12. Go to a haunted house...

... if you have the guts.

13. Make caramel apples

Add M&Ms, nuts, or marshmallows to shake things up a bit!

14. Visit a pumpkin patch with your best friends.

And why not take a few cute pics while you're there.

15. Have a bon fire

Snuggle up by the fire with a hot chocolate in hand!

16. Roast marshmallows at the bon fire.

And, of course, make s'mores!

17. And then share ghost stories while eating s'mores

Just try not to get too scared.

18. Go on a nature walk

Take advantage of the changing leaves and beautiful scenery.

19. Get a Halloween costume(s)

You are never too old to dress up.

20. Clean out your closet.

Donate any of the clothes you don't need, especially fall/winter attire. Someone in need will really appreciate them.

21. Decorate your dorm/apartment/house.

Add some fun lights or figurines to help get you into the fall spirit!

22. Visit the fair

Grab some friends and spend the day hopping from one ride to the other or trying to win the biggest teddy bear you can!

23. Take a trip to the local farmer's market

Cook a festive dinner with all the fresh produce you bought.

24. Read a new book(s)

There is no better time to snuggle up with a cup of tea and good book.

25. Go stargazing

Grab a few blankets and drive away from all the city lights to enjoy a peaceful night underneath the stars.

26. Get lost in a corn maze

27. Roommate dinner

Before midterms take up all your time, celebrate the holidays with your roommates.

28. Go to a concert

29. Volunteer at a food bank

They need your help all year round, not just at Thanksgiving!

30. Spend time with those closest to you!

Don't miss out on any of the fun adventures fall has to offer. Grab a few friends and get tackling this list because fall will be over before you know it.

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

For a moment your world is spinning. The phone alarm has just scared you awake and you’re flooded by daunting thoughts of the day ahead. You have three assignments due and little time to work on them because of your job. You’re running late because you’ve hit snooze one to many times after yesterday’s long hours. Finals week is upon us. It is a magical time of year during which college students everywhere flock to the library in attempt to learn a semester's worth of knowledge in only a week. For some students, it's their first time in the library all semester, maybe ever. Others have slaved away many nights under the fluorescent lights, and are slightly annoyed to find their study space being invaded by amateurs.
