The Five Clothing Items That Just Aren't For Short Girls

Shopping can be quite the struggle.

Being 5'2" and trying to wear the clothes that the 6'2" models wear is super difficult. I will find a pair of pants or a skirt that is so perfect but guess what... it's too long. And I'm not talking about it dragging the ground a tad so I might have to wear heels with it, I'm talking about I'd need stilts for them to work out for me. So here are a few clothing items that I have just learned to avoid like the plague when shopping:

1. Over-sized T-shirts

They are so cute with a pair of leggings and so comfy! However, if you put me in a t-shirt that's larger than a medium, it looks like I'm wearing a dress. It's not very flattering either, even though "t-shirt dresses" are the thing these days. I think I'll just stick with these shirts as my night clothes.

2. Palazzo Pants

I have literally only found one pair of these that fit out of all of the pairs that have been designed and put in stores, and I have to wear them up past my belly button. I just stopped trying them on because I didn't want to be let down yet again. These are so comfortable and also considered business casual, but sorry shorties, looks like you'll have to settle for your petite slacks. But let's be real, even some of the petite sizes have too much fabric for us.

3. Maxi Dresses

Yeah, there's just no hope for these. I've always wanted the flowy and effortless look that they give girls of an average height. I wish it were possible; I really do. I guess I'll just have to stick with my short dresses, oh but wait, they shouldn't even be called short, because they are too long too; they come to that awkward spot between my knees and my ankles.

4. Jumpsuits

These are a recent fashion statement that made a comeback from the 70's and 80's. I've admired them from a distance but haven't laid a finger on one of them. These would be so convenient to throw on if you don't feel like putting on a shirt AND a pair of pants, just makes your morning so much easier when you have a two-in-one. I guess we will just have to put in the extra effort instead.

5. Capri Pants

It's rare that I find a pair of capris that look right on me. Majority of them make me look like I'm ready for April showers. Sometimes we try to make the ones that fall right 2 inches above our ankles work by rolling them up, but that makes us look like we're wearing knee pads. So good luck for the search of the pair that fits, because they are a great find.

Short girls, don't get me wrong, you are perfect just the way you are. There are some clothing items that only girls of our stature can pull off while taller girls may have a hard time making them look just right. We just have to find the clothes that flatter us; there may not be as many options, but we work with what is given to us!
