1. Figuring out what classes you are taking and where they are located:
It’s the first day of classes and you still are not sure what you are taking. But the worst thing is that you are standing there with your phone out like a freshman trying to figure out where to go. We all do this no matter the grade. But as you get older it also turns into “I still haven’t ordered books yet.”
2. Establishing your seat in class:
The first week is important for many reasons, you want to make a good impression on the professor, see who is in your class, but most of all get your seat. This is the only time that I am ever 10-15 minutes early to class all semester because that is when you stack your claim on your seat. Sadly, a freshman stole my seat on the second day of class. I felt like I was a kid that had gotten their lollipop stolen.
3. Syllabus week is translated into party week:
We all know that syllabus week is a joke, we sit there introduce our selves, brag about how awesome our summer was, listen to the professor drone on and on about the attendance policy and getting really scared when we see how heavily the exams are graded. But we all have that one professor who starts with a power point on the first chapter and then tells you have paper due Saturday (ha-ha me). But no matter what the biggest thing on our mind is figuring out what parties to go to and how to plan out your night so you can spend time at all of them.
4. Realizing how short college life really is:
As junior I only have two years left of college, which mean two years until I am pushed out into the really word. I two years I will not just be accountable for my grades but I will become accountable to society. I constantly wish that life would slow down especially now. I try to value every memory even the bad because I know that soon it will all be over. As we see that this is coming to an end we start to reevaluate our life and take a second look at who we choose to let into that life.
5. You are finally back with the people that make you, you:
You have waited all summer to be back with your people and see even the people that you hardly know. And I am not exception. I have been blessed with the friends that I have. I have the type of friends that no matter what will always be there to pick you up when you fall and dust you off. But I also have the type of friends that will tell me to get my shit together and stop being a moron (which is often). I know that with out them I would be totally lost. It is true what they say, “you find your life long friends in college.”
