It is that time of year again. A new semester begins, and so does the typical first day of classes. The first day is always different than the rest of the semester. Luckily, the cast Grey's Anatomy can sum it up perfectly.
You wake up, get ready and feel great about yourself. You tell yourself that you are not going to be that person to look like they just rolled out of bed this semester. New semester, new you... right?
(You will definitely look like a hobo in three weeks, so enjoy the honeymoon phase of the semester when you have motivation to actually get ready.)
You make sure to leave early in order to get a good parking spot. Little did you know, everyone on campus had that exact idea. You proceed to park in a lot on the other side of campus from your class. In the middle of class, you receive an email about a parking ticket. You forgot to buy a parking permit.
Next week parking will be available. This pain is only temporary.
You walk into your first class of the day feeling confident and invincible. You take out your brand new school supplies and are ready for class to start. Right as you look up, you make eye contact with someone you have been avoiding all summer long. To top it all off, the professor says to read the syllabus on your own time, and starts with the first chapter.
You walk out feeling defeated with a crushed spirit.
The day goes on and it is time for your next class. You walk in the door and sit down. You tell yourself this class will be better than the first one. The professor walks in and starts with the syllabus. You are relaxed and feeling okay about this one. The class goes smoothly until the professor says two words: "cumulative final." After that, you already feel the failure coming. You cry a little until the professor makes eye contact with you and you pull it together.
You pencil in the last day to drop classes into your agenda and take a deep breath.
You are walking to your car or dorm after the final class of the day feeling confused and lost. You begin to realize that this is a normal feeling that will never go away. Just as you think the day can not get any more confusing, you see someone you know from your high school. They say something weird and you make awkward conversation.
You never walk this way home again to avoid this person for the rest of the semester. They still manage to find you.
Welcome back, everyone!
