America's Embrace of Fascism in the White House

The First 100 Days of President Donald Trump

America's Embrace of Fascism in the White House

We are currently dancing with a constitutional crisis. We are not even 20 days into Donald Trump's 45th administration as President and already we are seeing the executive orders and idea's he wants to implement. Trump has signed executive orders left and right since he's taken office. The count has surpassed 20. This is in part thanks to President Obama who expanded executive powers under his administration. He has promised to forward the project of the Dakota Access Pipeline, ban seven large Muslim majority countries from entering the country, including Iraq and Syria, plus cutting off any and all refugees coming to the states from Syria.

Whether Trump is aware or not, as a country we are cutting off and distancing ourselves from the rest of the world. Iran has implemented a travel ban for all United States citizens. The United Kingdom has put a petition that has gained large traction that would ban Trump from entering their country if he tries to visit. Our reputation in the world is already becoming undone. We are giving terrorist groups such as Isis all of the propaganda they could ever need.

Protests only go so far. Washington elites and politicians currently in office need to stand up to the Trump Administration. Sane Republicans such as John McCain or Lindsey Graham need to say no. the resistance and rejection of fascism needs to come from within their own party. It's one thing to read history books, it's entirely something else to be living in them. We had the option of choosing an Ivy League educated white women with more than a decade of government experience to lead us, yet we chose and fully embraced nationalism and fascism.

If you are white you will not face nearly the amount of discrimination and bigotry currently thrown at anyone who has a different skin color. If these first few weeks are any indication for what's to come, we are in for a very dark four years. Trump will continue to flirt with putting our constitution in crisis, implementing a nationalist agenda and isolating certain ethnic groups further in our country. Steve Bannon, the former executive of Breitbart Alt-right news website is a top security adviser. An open advocate of hate and racism is in one of the highest positions in Trumps administration and that should terrify everyone. Even legitimately survive the next four years as a country, the damage inflicted by Donald Trumps presidency will be irreversible.

I think the hardest thing about going away to college is figuring out how to become an adult. Leaving a household where your parents took care of literally everything (thanks, Mom!) and suddenly becoming your own boss is overwhelming. I feel like I'm doing a pretty good job of being a grown-up, but once in awhile I do something that really makes me feel like I'm #adulting. Twenty-somethings know what I'm talking about.

I went to a small high school, like 120-people-in-my-graduating-class small. It definitely had some good and some bad, and if you also went to a small high school, I’m sure you’ll relate to the things that I went through.

1. If something happens, everyone knows about it

Who hooked up with whom at the party? Yeah, heard about that an hour after it happened. You failed a test? Sorry, saw on Twitter last period. Facebook fight or, God forbid, real fight? It was on half the class’ Snapchat story half an hour ago. No matter what you do, someone will know about it.

Chandler Bing

I'm assuming that we've all heard of the hit 90's TV series, Friends, right? Who hasn't? Admittedly, I had pretty low expectations when I first started binge watching the show on Netflix, but I quickly became addicted.

Without a doubt, Chandler Bing is the most relatable character, and there isn't an episode where I don't find myself thinking, Yup, Iam definitely the Chandler of my friend group.

Working with the public can be a job, in and of itself. Some people are just plain rude for no reason. But regardless of how your day is going, always having to be in the best of moods, or at least act like it... right?

1. When a customer wants to return a product, hands you the receipt, where is printed "ALL SALES ARE FINAL" in all caps.

2. Just because you might be having a bad day, and you're in a crappy mood, doesn't make it okay for you to yell at me or be rude to me. I'm a person with feelings, just like you.

3. People refusing to be put on hold when a customer is standing right in front of you. Oh, how I wish I could just hang up on you!
