To The Fatherless On Father's Day.

No perfect corny card for him.

To The Fatherless On Father's Day.
The Japan Times

It's that time of year again. Father's Day. Father's Day is a special day dedicated to all Father's around the world where you celebrate how amazing your dad is. All your friends say how they need to get a gift for their father, but you sit in silence. You dread this time of year because you have to fake smile and fake that you aren't bothered by this. You pretend that everything is okay even though deep down you are not okay.

I lost my father 13 years ago. Every year Father's Day gets harder and harder. You get to see everyone around you having a good time with their father. You don't get to pick out the most perfect gift for your dad. No perfect corny card for him. Just the memory of you is all I get to have.

Honestly, I wish I could sleep through Father's Day. But I cant. I try to just keep my head up on this day. I know that you would still want me yo be happy about everything else in life, and not sit around sad about not having to spend this day with you.

I'm lucky enough to have a great mom and sister and other family members to help you get through this holiday. My family distracts me from getting upset. Sometimes we even spend the day thinking about all of the memories that my father created before he passed.

If you are reading this article, you can relate to this pain. You know the exact pain that I am feeling around this day. You need to know that Father's Day is just another day. A lot of people don't have Valentines on Valentine's day, or a New Year's kiss on New Years Eve. So not having a father on Father's Day is sad but very uncommon.

It's okay to be selfish on Father's day. Take as much time remembering him as you need. It's not a day to realize what could've been. It's a day to remember the best times that you guys had.

Don't forget how amazing your dad is on Father's Day or any other day in the world.

Keep your chin up and think about the positive in life and remember all the great memories you had with your father before he passed away.

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

1. When course schedules are released and you have a conflict between two required classes.

Bonus points if it is more than two.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
