The Fans They Don't Deserve: The Toronto Blue Jays

The past few seasons, the Toronto Blue Jays front office has assembled a team that has gone to the playoffs in both the 2015 and 2016 seasons. Their 2015 playoff appearance was the first time that the Blue Jays had ever made the playoffs since they won the World Series in 1993. Fans were undeniably excited that after 22 years, their team had finally made the playoffs after such a long drought. However, for the players of the Blue Jays, these are the fans they don’t deserve.

In the American League Division Series last season, fans in Toronto caused almost a 20 delay in the game after they threw beers and other objects onto the field after a bad call was made and after a video review failed to overturn that call. Fans have every right to be mad and boo or yell whatever they feel is necessary to voice their displeasure with the call. However, the fans crossed the line when they decided that it was a good idea to throw things; which could cause harm to the players on the field. This is unacceptable behavior by any fan at any sporting event. These aren’t the type of fans that the athletes who compete for the Blue Jays organization deserve because it is embarrassing for the players that their fans think that this kind of behavior is acceptable for them to have. I wish that this was the only incident that would reflect poorly on these fans, but unfortunately, it isn’t.

Again this year in postseason, there was another instance that reflected poorly on the fan base for the Blue Jays. In their wild card matchup with a division rival (the Baltimore Orioles), a fan threw a beer from the outfield seats onto the field during a live play in an attempt to hit or distract the Orioles player, Hyun-Soo Kim, a.s the ball headed towards him Luckily, Kim didn’t get distracted and caught the fly ball to record the out and end the inning. Not only could the fan have injured the player if he hit him in the head; but also, if Kim was hit, it could have affected the play on the field that could have potentially changed the outcome of the game.

The Blue Jays players don’t deserve the support of fans like this because all that the fans actions have done have caused other fans to “hate” the Blue Jays team. There is nothing that the Blue Jays as a team have done to deserve “hate” from fans. There are some many other ways that a fan can try to affect the game without causing a scene on the field and there is also ways to voice your displeasure with a call on the field, these fans haven’t figured it out and until they do, they don’t deserve this Blue Jays team. The Blue Jays play the game exactly like it should be and they deserve fans that act in a respectable manner that won’t embarrass the organization and everyone who works for the organization.

I think the hardest thing about going away to college is figuring out how to become an adult. Leaving a household where your parents took care of literally everything (thanks, Mom!) and suddenly becoming your own boss is overwhelming. I feel like I'm doing a pretty good job of being a grown-up, but once in awhile I do something that really makes me feel like I'm #adulting. Twenty-somethings know what I'm talking about.

I went to a small high school, like 120-people-in-my-graduating-class small. It definitely had some good and some bad, and if you also went to a small high school, I’m sure you’ll relate to the things that I went through.

1. If something happens, everyone knows about it

Who hooked up with whom at the party? Yeah, heard about that an hour after it happened. You failed a test? Sorry, saw on Twitter last period. Facebook fight or, God forbid, real fight? It was on half the class’ Snapchat story half an hour ago. No matter what you do, someone will know about it.

Chandler Bing

I'm assuming that we've all heard of the hit 90's TV series, Friends, right? Who hasn't? Admittedly, I had pretty low expectations when I first started binge watching the show on Netflix, but I quickly became addicted.

Without a doubt, Chandler Bing is the most relatable character, and there isn't an episode where I don't find myself thinking, Yup, Iam definitely the Chandler of my friend group.

Working with the public can be a job, in and of itself. Some people are just plain rude for no reason. But regardless of how your day is going, always having to be in the best of moods, or at least act like it... right?

1. When a customer wants to return a product, hands you the receipt, where is printed "ALL SALES ARE FINAL" in all caps.

2. Just because you might be having a bad day, and you're in a crappy mood, doesn't make it okay for you to yell at me or be rude to me. I'm a person with feelings, just like you.

3. People refusing to be put on hold when a customer is standing right in front of you. Oh, how I wish I could just hang up on you!

RBF, or resting b*tch face, is a serious condition that many people suffer from worldwide. Suffers are often bombarded with daily questions such as "Are you OK?" and "Why are you so mad?" If you have RBF, you've probably had numerous people tell you to "just smile!"
