In a world dominated by technology, the ability for an individual to escape reality has increased.
There is a variety of reasons for an individual to want to escape their reality; it could be a stressful situation, a family issue, or an inner struggle. The ability to escape all problems in the outside world; even if for a few minutes, could change that individual’s entire day.
Music
The idea of tuning out the world is a valid concept. Every individual has their own preferred category of music; these musicians and songs relate to their experiences and emotions. The power of one song, could be more than a thousand words from a loved one. Music has a way of finding the tough times with a solution or a strengthening lyric; that could change the entire outcome of your life.
YouTube
Personally, I turn to YouTube in my times of stress or days were nothing seems to be going right. These YouTubers are more than individual’s who talk to cameras; they are living inspirations that give an individual the courage to face reality with the belief that things get better in time.
Books
Reading a book transports an individual into another time and place; a visual image of an ideal world were dragons and magic are real. They allow us to forget that the outside world exists; they leave us with the idea that the final pages will end the world in bliss.
Movies
Getting lost in a movie can be a complete stress relief; an individual focus on the events occurring within the movie and forgets about the stress of the real world. Movies focus on a variety of categories, there is something for everyone and the possibility of getting lost in the story is inevitable.
Traveling
The idea of escaping reality, even for a few hours allows for an individual to gain a new perspective on the situation. No matter the miles traveled an individual can escape their life, even if its walk down town.
“All the best stories in the world are but one story in reality- the story of escape. It is the only thing which interests us all and at all times, how to escape.” -Walter Bagehot
