The End Of The Semester As Told By 'The Office'

With only two weeks left in the semester, the first half of the school year is coming to a close and faster than many of us expected. With finals, projects and papers, I think everyone is ready for this semester to be over and for a relaxing, long winter break. Here are some of my favorite scenes from "The Office" that perfectly sum up how I'm feeling about the end of first semester.

You think you have your life together, but the more you think about it, the more you realize your life is anything but together.

Despite studying for all your finals, your teachers decide to make a 10-page paper, two group projects and a multimodal project all due the same day as your final.

Not only do you have to balance all of this school work, but you realize that you have no time for a social life either.

You have so much to think about that your brain has turned to mush, and you can't even understand what your teachers are saying anymore.

So when your teacher asks if you have any questions about what you've learned over the past semester, you can bet your bottom dollar you're going to be there for a while.

Then you decide to go to the library and after walking around for about twenty minutes you realize there are no open tables.

But at least there are stress-relieving puppies in the library so you can go procrastinate even more while playing with some dogs.

Then you decide to procrastinate studying a little more and go to Starbucks in the library. But then someone has the audacity to cut the already obnoxiously long line.

Instead of actually doing work, you calculate what you need to get on the final to make an A in the class. That's just never a confidence booster, but at least it gives you a good laugh.

But somehow against all odds, you survive the semester and get to enjoy winter break without thinking about classes for a solid six weeks.

Here are the top few things, that I find at least, are some of the most irritating misconceptions that find their way into numerous conversations...

8. "The whole philanthropy thing isn't real, right?"

Well all those fundraisers and marketing should would be a waste then wouldn't they?

11 Things Summer Nannies Can Relate To

There are plenty of obstacles that come when taking care of kids, but it's a very rewarding experience.

As a college student, being a nanny over the summer is both enjoyable and challenging. Underneath the seemingly perfect trips to the pool or countless hours spent playing Monopoly are the obstacles that only nannies will understand. Trading in your valuable summer vacation in return for three months spent with a few children less than half your age may seem unappealing, but so many moments make it rewarding. For my fellow summer nannies out there, I know you can relate.

There are a lot of really easy, common names in the U.S. and while many of those simple names have different spellings, most of the time, pronunciation is not an issue that those people need to worry about. However, others are not as fortunate and often times give up on corrections after a while. We usually give an A+ for effort. So, as you could probably imagine, there are a few struggles with having a name that isn’t technically English. Here are just a few…

Daydreaming

day·dream (ˈdāˌdrēm/): a series of pleasant thoughts that distract one's attention from the present.

Daydreams, the savior of our life in class. Every type of student in the classroom does it at least once, but most cases it is an everyday event, especially in that boring class -- you know the one. But what are we thinking while we are daydreaming?

Puerto Ricans. They are very proud people and whether they were born on the island or born in the United States by Puerto Rican parent(s). It gets even better when they meet another fellow Puerto Rican or Latino in general. You’ll know quickly if they are Puerto Rican whether the flag is printed somewhere on their person or whether they tell you or whether the famous phrase “wepa!” is said.
