The End Of The Semester Slump

The end of the semester can be brutal, mostly because of the pile of work we have to do and our lack of motivation to do it. Here are some tips to help get you through these next few weeks:

1. Think Positive: Although it may sound cliche, thinking positively truly can make a difference. Happy thoughts lead to a happy mindset and an overall happier self.

The "law of attraction" will work in your favor and you will attract positive experiences. Also, one of the main causes of stress is negative thinking and worrying; therefore, to help minimize stress, thinking positively is essential.

2. Realize You Are Not Alone: All of us are going through it with you. Every single student, no matter their major or course load, can relate to the end of the semester stress. Even (some) professors!

It is okay to reach out to someone, whether it be a friend, family member, or simply a fellow classmate. We are here for you.

3. Treat yo’self: Try to set a weekly goal, such as keeping up with readings, and treat yourself once you accomplish that goal. Doing so will help keep you motivated to accomplish your goals for the remaining few weeks.

Eyeing something? Reward yourself.

4. Self-Care: Always remember that without your health and wellbeing, you cannot accomplish anything. Therefore, it is essential to practice self-care, no matter how stressed you are.

Give yourself a break from studying and focus on yourself. There are many ways to do this, including meditating, yoga, napping, listening to music, etc. Self-care can even be as simple as taking a shower or eating a meal.

5. Get Hype: After all, there’s less than a month left! Think about how great your post-semester plans will be!

Hang in there, we're almost done!

Everyone who is in college right now, or has ever been, knows the struggle of pulling in the strings at the last second. It seems impossible, and you have to do a LOT of things in order to assure your future for the next semester.

April Ludgate, historically, is a very annoyed person, and she doesn't hide it. Of all the times that I binged and re-binged "Parks and Rec," her attitude relates more and more to me.

To The Cheerful Person On Their Rainy Days, You Are Valid

The world is not always sunshine and rainbows, and you do not have to be, either.

Ask friends of mine to name a quality about me, and one a lot them will point out the fact that I am almost always smiling. I like to laugh and smile -- not to quote Buddy the Elf in April, but smiling is my favorite! It is probably my favorite go-to expression. However, what a lot of people do not see is that I have my down days. I have days when smiling and laughing is a real struggle, or when I have so much on my plate that going out of my way to behappy takes more effort than I have stored in me. Be it a symptom of college and growing up or a facet of life, I cannot always be content.
