The End is Just The Beginning Part.3

A short story

A loud banging on a door is what brought me out of sleep. Silently but fast I got out of bed and slipped on a pair of jeans, bra, clean black and the red tee shirt, and checkered socks. I grabbed my black and white checkerboard vans, my gray and black skull jacket, and set them by my bed. Quickly I brushed out my tangled mess of blonde hair that when I was done my hair laid straight down to the middle of my back. Throwing it up in a smooth ponytail once all the tangles were finally out. I grabbed my bag and put the brush on it and my cell phone charger as well in it. I put on my glasses and clipped my iPod touch to the outside of my right bra cup hanging my headphones over my right shoulder.

I held my breath and silently walked out of my room. Sliding my white iPod headphones into my ears turning the iPod on.

"Rayne what are you doing home schools not out yet" Ben said looking at me.

"I didn't feel good this morning besides I'm way ahead of the other seniors.". "Then what are you doing out of bed."

"I just woke up and my stomach hurts."

"Oh okay hurry and get back to bed. Cierra will have my ass if she knew I let you out of bed" Ben said heading towards his room.

"I'll hurry and get back to bed" I replied in relief. 'Thank you Jesus' I thought in my head sighing as I slipped into the kitchen.

Looking around I grabbed a glass and poured myself some Mt. Dew over a couple cubes of ice. I grabbed some pain killers and a straw before putting a three meat pizza inside the oven on 375 degrees F. Going back to my room I grabbed my remote for my Ihome off my dresser and pushed the on button. My iHome came to life as I put my iPod touch in its place. Almost immediately my ears were filled with the sound of 'I hate everything about you' by Three Days Grace. Smiling while grabbing a notebook I began writing more of an already in progress story about a guy who I’ve only seen in dreams. Getting at least 3 pages more than what I started on I stopped as 'If I was your vampire' by Marilyn Manson ended. I walked out of my room and back to the kitchen. I took the pizza out of the oven swiftly and carefully. I sighed there simply wasn't away for me to hurt myself accidentally I had been doing this too long.

Quickly I cut my pizza in four slices and put the pieces on a paper plate carrying it to my room only stopping to turn the kitchen light out. I made it back to my room in the middle of 'In my room' by ICP. Softly banging my head to the music I sat on my bed and started eating the pizza. My right arm was throbbing badly now that I had the chance to think about it. 'Suck it up and live with the pain. You need your right arm' a voice in my head said. Eating the pizza kind of quickly I laid back down when I was finished after tossing my plate in the trash can in my room. Sighing I slowly drifted off to sleep.

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

Finals week is upon us. It is a magical time of year during which college students everywhere flock to the library in attempt to learn a semester's worth of knowledge in only a week. For some students, it's their first time in the library all semester, maybe ever. Others have slaved away many nights under the fluorescent lights, and are slightly annoyed to find their study space being invaded by amateurs.
