The Effectiveness Of Happy People

Something we may so often take for granted, may turn out to be one of the most important things of all.

The way one carries themselves is such an important aspect for so many reasons. Someone's mood can determine so much, not only for the person in question, but for others around them as well.

Have you ever been around someone that was in a good mood or been around a genuinely joyful person and found yourself automatically put in a better mood?

Often times, when around someone happy, it provokes happiness among those around them.

Honestly, happiness is contagious. If you find yourself down or not in the best mood, I guarantee surrounding yourself with others that are in a good mood will make you feel better. Throughout the duration of the past year, surrounding myself with my friends immensely helped me get through the bumpy road. Their happy attitudes made the time spent with them so much more enjoyable, and helped me forget my troubles for a while. Sure, when you're upset a common desire is to just be alone and lay around, but often times just spending time with others that are just naturally there to spread good vibes is just what you need to look at things in a more bright light.

I think often times we tend to overlook the value of happiness and those that just naturally possess this quality. Anyone that can cheer another person up just by the effectiveness of their mood is a very special and important individual.

Even when you're walking down the street or around campus, and a random person that you have never met before flashes you a completely unprecedented smile, it really does have the power to enhance your mood.

Being happy is important, and I believe more times than not it is taken for granted or underrated. When we, or someone else, is happy we do not tend to really appreciate the occurrence as much as we probably should. I mean, after all it is popularly stated: you never appreciate what you have until it's gone. But being genuinely happy is wonderful. Being happy is a blessing. And I really think we should view it as just that a lot more often; to understand that not everyone gets to feel happiness at the same time. So when we do, we should appreciate it as much as we can.

So for those who choose to spread this joyous emotion around deserve to be praised. I'm sure not everything is perfect in their life either, but the fact that they wake up every day and choose happiness deserves to be appreciated. You all greatly affect the lives of all of us, whether we choose to realize it or not.

I, for one, am remarkably thankful for those in my life and around me that have been there with their cheerful moods when I really did need it most. Choosing happiness, and especially choosing to display it for the whole world to see, takes strength. It takes a distinctive individual.

Don't take happiness, or those who so often display and spread it, for granted. If these significant people did not exist, the world would be a much more gloomy place. Appreciate those who go out of their way to emit joyous vibes to others. For some people, it really does make all the difference in the world.

girl with a hat

This is for the girls who have dealt with an emotionally, mentally, physically or verbally abusive father.

The ones who have grown up with a false lens of what love is and how relationships should be. The ones who have cried themselves to sleep wondering why he hurts you and your family so much. This is for all the girls who fall in love with broken boys that carry baggage bigger than their own, thinking it's their job to heal them because you watched your mother do the same.

Blair Waldorf Quote
"DESTINY IS FOR LOSERS. IT'S JUST A STUPID EXCUSE TO WAIT FOR THINGS TO HAPPEN INSTEAD OF MAKING THEM HAPPEN." - BLAIR WALDORF.

The world stopped in 2012 when our beloved show "Gossip Girl" ended. For six straight years, we would all tune in every Monday at 9:00 p.m. to see Upper Eastside royalty in the form of a Burberry headband clad Blair Waldorf. Blair was the big sister that we all loved to hate. How could we ever forget the epic showdowns between her and her frenemy Serena Van Der Woodsen? Or the time she banished Georgina Sparks to a Christian summer camp? How about that time when she and her girls took down Bart Bass? Blair is life. She's taught us how to dress, how to be ambitious, and most importantly, how to throw the perfect shade.

1. The awkward hellos on move-in day.

You're moving your stuff onto your floor, and you will encounter people you don't know yet in the hallway. They live on your floor, so you'll awkwardly smile and maybe introduce yourself. As you walk away, you will wonder if they will ever speak to you again, but don't worry, there's a good chance that you will make some great friends on your floor!

Recently I completed my freshman year of college, and boy, what an experience. It was a completely new learning environment and I can't believe how much I learned. In an effort to save time, here are the ten biggest lessons I learned from my first year of college.

1. Everyone is in the same boat

For me, the scariest part of starting school was that I was alone, that I wouldn't be able to make any friends and that I would stick out. Despite being told time and time again that everyone had these same feelings, it didn't really click until the first day when I saw all the other freshman looking as uneasy and uncomfortable as me. Therefore, I cannot stress this enough, everyone is feeling as nervous as you.
