For about a month now, I have made it a point to try and wake up around 6:30 each morning. It can be a struggle at times, but I have found that waking up earlier allows me to have time for things that I normally wouldn't have any time for at all during my day. Here are seven reasons why I love waking up early.

1. I have time to eat breakfast

My schedule this semester is so hectic that I usually can't eat lunch until 2:00 or 4:00 each day. Eating breakfast has now become a routine for me. It is so nice to be able to have pancakes, waffles, eggs, or bacon to start my morning, so I don't starve during the day.

2. I don't have to rush

I used to wake up around 9 and then rush to get to my 9:30 class, but now I have time to actually get ready and think about what I need for the day and what I should wear. I now am not flying out the door and forgetting my notes for the day.

3. I can finish up/start homework

I usually use my morning to get started on homework for the day, finish up assignments, or study for exams. Starting on my homework around 7 am each day is very beneficial for me, because I am more productive in the morning hours than I am at 8 at night.

4. I have "me time"

Usually not that many people are awake at 6:30 in the morning. I have found that it is very quiet and I have more "me time." Having this time for myself without the disturbances of daily life is very calming.

5. I have time to get things done

The morning is a great time to get things done that I am usually too lazy to do. I like to take out my trash, clean my room, or do laundry in the morning because I normally don't have any other time to do these things. It is a great time of day to check off a lot of things on your to-do list.

6. It helps me go to bed earlier

Since I have been waking up earlier, I have found that I go to bed by midnight. This is a huge breakthrough for me because I used to go to bed around 3 am every night. I now can go to bed at a decent hour, and I actually fall asleep more quickly.

7. I have more time for scripture study

Trying to get my scripture study in every single day can be hard at times. I feel like I am running around nonstop until about 10 pm each and every day. Waking up early gives me time to start my day off with my scripture study and the positivity that comes along with it.

Waking up early can be hard sometimes. With only five hours of sleep some nights it is hard to get up early, but waking up early is a great way to get motivated and start your day on the right side of the bed.

College students, you might be able to relate to this one. These probably sound familiar because we often tell ourselves these phrases; however, we are unable to follow or agree with these the following, deep down inside of our overwhelmed, tired minds.

1. "No more spending money on useless things"
