The Drake Theory: The Metamorphosis Of The '6 God'

After several teasers, a plethora of promotions, and beef with Philadelphia’s finest (Meek Mill), the Toronto superstar released his fourth studio album. Yes my good people, Drake who you might know as "Wheelchair Jimmy", "Champagne Papi", or the "6 God" is illustrating his continued prominence throughout the world. As the planet listens and quakes in celebration of Views, let's take a moment to highlight the evolution of the Canadian artist's album metamorphosis.

Summer jams and the summoning of nostalgic sentiments; 2010 in the form of an album indeed. Thank Me Later provided fans with a combination of who the Canadian artist was at the time, and what he projected himself to be in the future. With classics such as "Over", "Find Your Love", and "Fancy", it was a matter of time the actor was on his way to the grand success to come. With familiar vibes from his mixtape So Far Gone, many speculated Drake to be in the game for the long haul due to the album's exceeding popularity. But the end of 2011 unexpectedly transcended Toronto's golden child into a worldwide name.

What a way to end 2011. Drake's second album Take Care depicted how the entertainer stands today. After the success of his first album, Mr. Graham lets the world know who he is, and where he intends on pouring his talents into. What's unique about this album was the inclusion of a more dark, and cynical tone in terms of lyricism and production. Though this was true, the multifaceted artist provided a more "emotional" approach to hip hop. Hits like "Headlines", "H.Y.F.R", and the ultimate anthem than coined a generation defining term (Y.O.L.O) "The Motto", skyrocketed the soon to be "6 God" to his first Grammy, and a representative of this decade's youth. It was only a matter of time until he found his own label.

Speakers anywhere and everywhere where bumping track after track from his third album. Nothing Was the Samewas the first project on his label OVO Sound. The album from beginning to end provided listeners with everything that they were looking for from Drake. When his single "Started From the Bottom" dropped, the world applauded. Not only was Drake making his impact in music, but he was becoming a cultural icon representing Toronto on a worldly scale.

Within the next 3 years, Graham exploded far past the expectations of the once gawky kid from Canada. Single after single, and feature after feature, Drake displayed his reign as one of the leaders in modern music through his mixtape If You're Reading This It's Too Late, and collaboration with Future on What a Time to Be Alive. Though both projects are strictly "bangers", they sufficed just long enough for the release of Views that occurred on Thursday, April, 28th.

All of the work and dedication Drake has done has finally accumulated into a masterpiece dedicated to the city of Toronto. The evolution of Drake will endure, and the Toronto native might surprise us with more than we can handle. One day will come a time where Drake will eventually leave the game and so will his evolution. So, as for now, enjoy Views and all that it entails.

In honor of Mother’s Day, I have been thinking of all the things my mom does for my family and me. Although I couldn’t write nearly all of them, here are a few things that moms do for us.

They find that shirt that’s right in front of you, but just you can’t seem to find.

10 Reasons To Thank Your Best Friend

Take the time to thank that one friend in your life you will never let go of.

Thank You on wooden blocks

1. Thank you for being the one I can always count on to be honest.

A true friend will tell you if the shirt is ugly, or at least ask to borrow it and "accidentally" burn it.

2. Thank you for accepting me for who I am.

A best friend will love you regardless of the stale french fries you left on the floor of your car, or when you had lice in 8th grade and no one wanted to talk to you.

Do as I say, not as I do.

Your eyes widen in horror as you stare at your phone. Beads of sweat begin to saturate your palm as your fingers tremble in fear. The illuminated screen reads, "Missed Call: Mom."

Growing up with strict parents, you learn that a few things go unsaid. Manners are everything. Never talk back. Do as you're told without question. Most importantly, you develop a system and catch on to these quirks that strict parents have so that you can play their game and do what you want.

"Friends" maybe didn’t have everything right or realistic all the time, but they did have enough episodes to create countless reaction GIFs and enough awesomeness to create, well, the legacy they did. Something else that is timeless, a little rough, but memorable? Living away from the comforts of home. Whether you have an apartment, a dorm, your first house, or some sort of residence that is not the house you grew up in, I’m sure you can relate to most of these!
