Two people from similar backgrounds could live together and there would still eventually be disagreement and conflict between them, so it is no surprise that in a country as massive as America filled with people from different countries, cultures, and of different ethnicities there is a large separation of political, economic, and social ideas. Over the 200 years of this country's existence, there have been multiple political parties: from the wigs to the federalists and now the Democrats and Republicans. The creation of the Democrat party and Republican party has had such an impact over politics that it is now used when voting for a new candidate for office. Both Democrats and Republicans run, with an occasional third party, but the Democrats and Republicans are the only two parties fully recognized by the government. This influence of two opposing political parties has now even evolved into becoming a social issue. People today are separated more than ever based on which political party they are in. Stereotypes are now being issued with Republicans being nothing but greedy, racist, white people and Democrats being stupid, snowflake “libtards” who just whine about everything. People have become so lost in what being a Republican is and what being a Democrat is that there isn’t even a real definition for either anymore.
It’s not even as simple as Republicans are pro-life and Democrats are pro-abortion because that's not even the case. There are Democrats who believe abortion should only be legal the first few weeks of the pregnancy or it should only be available to pregnant minors, and there are Democrats who believe that abortion should be legal all the way up until a few days before the baby is due. There are even Democrats who are pro-life. On the other end of the spectrum, there are Republicans who support abortion or support abortion that have major restrictions and rules. It all just varies so much because there are too many different people with different morals and ideologies and opinions for there to just be two major political parties. The problem with this is that people nowadays are becoming so sensitive to who is in which political party. It's becoming so personal because of how tense social issues are, and, frankly, always have been.
Differences in opinions are not the problem when it comes to political parties. While different ideas and opinions can cause tension, they are necessary for progress and for checking each other’s ideas for mistakes. The issue is that creating such a broad label of either Republican or Democrat causes total separation between people in the two different parties. It all boils down to this society's issue with using labels to stereotype and make assumptions about people depending on which label they hold. So the problem isn’t different opinions, it’s the divide that is caused by creating a label of two separate political parties. This issue can’t be fixed by just banning political parties from America, because that would be unconstitutional. It can only be fixed if people are willing to put a person's political party aside, and focus on what they’re saying and thinking, not just automatically label them as a “libtard” because of their political party. If disagreement occurs, so be it, this is where tolerance needs to come into play. To truly fix the issue and the divide that was caused by political parties, people need to start putting labels aside, and start respecting each other and treating each other with courtesy, no matter their opinion.
