If you're a big fan of the Disney Parks, you might have noticed that some changes are about to be underway, which is really exciting! If you follow the Disney Parks pages on social media, as well as some fan pages, you might see that some commenters have totally shielded themselves from the changes. Lastly, if you've been to any Disney Park recently, you may hear some negative commenters in line. It could be the growing trend of grumpy people across the nation, or it could be people who are simply afraid of change. Either way, it was Walt Disney himself who said, "progress is impossible without change."
As a frequent park goer and former cast member, here are some comments that I've noticed that make me a little sad.
"Disney has lost the magic"
Actually, Disney has become more magical, if anything. I believe the reason people say this is because it's no longer the Disney that they grew up with. While part of me is sad about that too, I disagree that the magic is lost. Think of all the new magic to be created, especially with Star Wars and Marvel characters. Everyone is happy because they can meet their favorite princess and their favorite superheroes. Some of the older rides are being remade into new experiences, but the new experiences may become new traditions. Disney is always magical, let's never forget that.
The FastPass Line is no longer a FastPass Line
Except you don't sign up to walk right on the ride. The FastPass "rules" state that you will get little to no wait time. I don't know about you, but I'd rather wait 15 minutes for Peter Pan's Flight than 90 minutes, but that's just me.
"I'm no longer going to Disney because..."
I've heard it all. Too expensive. Too big of crowds. Too much Star Wars. Not enough Star Wars. Epcot has too many festivals. People will think of pretty much anything. The truth is, Disney is going to continue to grow and expand, in attractions and crowds. While they consider guest satisfaction, not everything can be restored back to its former glory.
As the old saying goes, "you can't please everyone."
