Certain people in our lives serve different purposes and that is the beauty of friendships.

Here are 10 types of friends we all need in life...

1. The listener

When things are iffy, turn to the friend who you know will give you moral support. They are the ones who keep your head on straight when they know something's up. You'll always tell them how you feel eventually.

2. The loyal one

You know this friend can always be counted on. We all make pretty dumb mistakes sometimes, but having that loyal friend who is by your side during your worst is someone who will never fade from your life. They don't judge you.

3. The parent

We all have that one friend who has those mom-like qualities, and I am not mad about it. Knowing someone has your back like your mom does is a pretty neat thing.

4. The life of the party

Everyone has that friend they can count on when they want to let loose. They are like your relief, and you can always bet they are dragging you out to put a smile on your face and boost your confidence.

5. The sister

Whether or not you have a sister, you can find friends who you feel so close with that they do feel like family. Luckily for me, I have two sisters who are my best friends and I cherish all of the secrets we share. Family can be the best type of friend.

6. The brutally honest one

Let's be serious... where would we be without that tough love?

7. The brother

My little brother is one of my very best friends. There is something really special about that. If you don't have a brother or vise versa, I am sure you can relate by cherishing that cool friendship you have with someone of the opposite sex.

8. The jokester

We all have that friend who we can be goofy with. Not only can you be lame around them, but they are there to laugh with you and make you feel better about yourself every time you need it.

9. The childhood friend

Even though sometimes we grow apart from childhood friends, you hands down know you can call them at any time and nothing would have changed. The number of inside jokes you have are insane, and you will always have a bond. These are really special people and they will forever keep you young.

10. The Yin to your Yang

You know, that person that is the peanut butter to your jelly or the burger to your fries or whatever. Sometimes, this is your significant other and that is pretty dang cool. That one person who you can be yourself with and feel fully complete when around them. They are keepers.

In honor of Mother’s Day, I have been thinking of all the things my mom does for my family and me. Although I couldn’t write nearly all of them, here are a few things that moms do for us.

They find that shirt that’s right in front of you, but just you can’t seem to find.

Everybody gets sick once in a while, but getting sick while in college is the absolute worst. You're away from home and your mom who can take care of you and all you really want to do is just be in your own bed. Do as I say, not as I do.

Your eyes widen in horror as you stare at your phone. Beads of sweat begin to saturate your palm as your fingers tremble in fear. The illuminated screen reads, "Missed Call: Mom."

Growing up with strict parents, you learn that a few things go unsaid. Manners are everything. Never talk back. Do as you're told without question. Most importantly, you develop a system and catch on to these quirks that strict parents have so that you can play their game and do what you want.

"Friends" maybe didn’t have everything right or realistic all the time, but they did have enough episodes to create countless reaction GIFs and enough awesomeness to create, well, the legacy they did. Something else that is timeless, a little rough, but memorable? Living away from the comforts of home. Whether you have an apartment, a dorm, your first house, or some sort of residence that is not the house you grew up in, I’m sure you can relate to most of these!

There is nothing quite like family.

Family is kinda like that one ex that you always find yourself running back to (except without all the regret and the angsty breakup texts that come along with it).
