The Difference Between the Emotions of Men and Women
Modern Family

Men are from Mars and women are from Venus. How many times have we heard that right? Well, the older you get, the more you realize how true that is. As an empowered young woman, whenever I hear someone call women over emotional, crazy, or insane I immediately stand up for the female population and support our sometimes absurd actions. However, let's be honest, its actually entertaining how different men and women really are.

Whenever the behavior of men and women is discussed, one party is usually being completely attacked whether it be in a humorous or not humorous way. However, I think it's ok to admit that women are sometimes crazy, and men are sometimes clueless. My point is that it's ok to accept the fact that we will probably never be on the same page. In fact, discussing the difference can actually be quite enlightening.

Let's start with the root of every difficult situation: arguments. There is and always will be an obvious difference between the way women handle conflict, and the way men do. Now for example, when two men get into a fight they usually get pretty angry and yell/talk about it and eventually move on with their lives. However, when women get into a fight, there is not only tension and hormonal imbalances, but also the question of when this argument will truly come to an end. Oh you insulted another girl's outfit behind her back? You bet she'll hold a grudge until the next calendar year. You jokingly told your girlfriend she needs to put more makeup on? All I can say is good luck to you my friend. Now, I'm not here to bash on either gender just to raise awareness to all of us who sometimes don't know how to handle certain situations. To the men who don't know what to do when a girl gets upset: show interest in fixing what's wrong. Honestly guys, it's not that hard to make a girl feel better. We don't need flowers or gifts. Those things are wonderful, but showing that you actually care about solving the issue at hand, is worth so much more. To the women who don't know what to do when a guy gets upset: understand that they probably just need some time. Women have so man emotions constantly, and it's sometimes hard for us to slow down and understand that maybe men don't complicate things as much as we do. And that's ok.

Now, lets ask ourselves this: how can men and women come together and understand each other better? It's a simple answer: communication. Everyone has gone through something disappointing simply because of a lack of communication. Men need to understand that women want answers, and they want them now. Showing them respect by trying your best to put your thoughts into words will go a long way. It's ok to not have everything figured out, but making an attempt to slowly get there is enough. Now ladies, we need to understand that sometimes, we need to give guys a break. Let's be real, we're constantly talking their ear off and demanding certain things because of our high maintenance needs. We need to be sure that we show appreciation for what they do, and give them the space they want and need. Half the time, guys honestly just don't know what they did wrong. It could be the most minute thing, and they'll think through everything they've done, and feel helpless because they have no idea where this is all coming from.

The moral of the story is that we're very different, and we always will be. Although men and women both have their downfalls, it would be boring if we didn't. If us girls weren't so complicated, what fun would that be? And if all you guys out there always had us figured out, that wouldn't be much fun either. What I'm trying to say is that there's always going to be situations where you feel helpless and lost simply because you don't understand what the other person is thinking. The best advice I could give you is to be the adult that you are and talk about it. If you don't feel confident enough to talk to the other person about how you're feeling, you should probably work on that before trying to figure out another persons emotions along with yours. No matter how crazy or clueless we all our, it's pretty amazing that we somehow get along with each other. Because in the end, the best thing we can do as human beings is love each other despite our imperfections.

At the end of the day, the one thing we all share is the love we have for one another. No matter who you are, where you live, where you come from, what you drive, or how you spend your days, the only thing we can all do the same is love. Love with all that you are, and let everyone around you know how you feel about them. You never know when will be the last time you get to show someone how much they mean to you. Life changes so quickly and if we all devoted ourselves to showing love and gratification, we might not have to live in such a cruel and violent world. But on the bright side, love is the one thing that will never fail. No matter how bad things get around us, the people you love will always be there.
