As I walked out of my dorm this morning onto campus things were very wrong. There was an eerie silence that filled the campus grounds where there should've been a bustling conversation. The liveliness that usually fills students as we enter the end of this week of classes has vanished from them. The day is set in a somber overcast that completes the overall feeling of despair felt by the minority today. Nothing is as it should be and there is a broad sense of horror that is beginning to consume us all.
We saw claims that if this fateful day, that has occurred, were to occur that we would've essentially pressed the reset button on our country by 50 years. LGBTQ communities revert to where they're something of taboo talk. You'd never safely, nor legally see them out in the world. Women have been placed back in their "respected role" as housewives to prepare dinner and take care of their children. Meanwhile, their male counterparts are out in the world gaining an education, providing for their family, and voicing their opinion on politics through the right to vote. Black Americans are back to being the lesser of the white man. White men are chosen for jobs over them, they receive countless threats on their safety and well-being by organizations such as the KKK, and black American children are back to being segregated into all black schools because they aren't granted the privilege of intermingling with white children. These are all things that will inevitably happen if the said claim were to become reality and if that doesn't terrify you, then you are the true American living the American dream. By that, I am disclosing that you are a white, cisgender, American male who doesn't have any disabilities and has a higher education. The majority of the U.S. people who voted for our 45th president of the United States.
As I continue on with my morning I contemplate the decision of whether or not to enter the war of America of which is social media. I know if I log on to Facebook this morning I will see a 50/50 divide among my Facebook friends. 50% of them will be my Christian, church friends who uphold the idea that our president is going to be a gracious leader who will correct the sin in American. While the other 50% will be voicing their fury, dread, animosity, and burden over what has just occurred less than 12 hours ago. However, I brush aside my fear an anxiety and log on anyways. And what I witness is worse than I had imagined. Not only were my above predictions accurate, war is being waged between the two sides because the liberals can't get over that fact that people elected a bigot, racist, homophobic man into office and the conservatives are calling the liberals childish and immature for voicing their opinion and not just idly letting the election conclude. It's one big civil war within our governments broken two part system in which the democrats are against the republicans. People claim that if our 45th president had been elected into office, which has already happened, then World War III would occur. However, after analyzing and witnessing first hand the result of the human people when the election was over, I don't so much think we will enter a war with foreign countries so much as we will enter a war within ourselves.
There is too much hate being built up over the outcome of the 2016 election. Hate for people who voted differently than you, hate for the policies of each candidate, and hate for the candidates themselves. Eventually, all this hate that is being stored within everyone and will become too much to bear. When this happens we will truly see people's true colors in regards to their opinions and beliefs. So here's my final verdict on the outcome of the election. If you're chosen candidate won the race then congratulations to you, keep your bragging and hate to yourself. If you're chosen candidate lost and you are included within some sort of minority classification, PLEASE exercise your first amendment right. You may not be able to fully protest the executive branch and the government, but you can voice your opinions and find other who feel the same way about you. We are the change we seek in the world, but don't allow that change to be the undoing of America.
