There's no doubt that you've heard about it, read about it, and posted about it. Pokémon go was released to Australia, New Zealand, and United States on July 6, 2016 and has quickly become quite the phenomenon. Despite not being release globally, at least not yet, people all over the world are partaking in the game of the century. With the release there have been some troubling issues such as server crashes, real-world danger, and- of course- naysayers. But over a week after the release the app and it's players are still going strong despite the setbacks. We're gonna talk about why.
Pokémon was first introduced in Japan in 1996 as a video game and came overseas in 1998 in both a game format as well as an anime. Quickly it grew popular with more games, trading cards, movies and shows. It was something that kids were raised on and something that taught kids real life lessons, such as accepting and loving everyone or knowing when to walk away from a fight. It was not just a franchise but a part of everyone's lives. We all wanted to be Pokémon masters.
Everyone who grew up on that is now an adult, or at least close to it. So when the game was a released, a game that could put Pokémon in our real world, it was no surprise how huge it became. People from all of the world began to play with the hopes of becoming the very best like no one ever was.
So far, it has been proven to help get people moving- since the game solely relies on the player to move around their town to find Pokémon- and it has been helping those with metal illnesses by getting them out of the house and interacting with other people. New friends have been, bonds created, and memories saved. It has even led to the increased safety around areas at night since so many people are out at that time to catch them all. The stocks of Nintendo have increased, local businesses may be a Pokestop which in turn helps them, and people are coming together. But even with the good there is the bad.
People are constantly posting about how lame it is for adults to play this game or how we need to stop talking about it. Well, you don't stop talking about your baseball or basketball, do you? No, but we let you go. Besides, why dog on an app that gets us outside and moving. And makes us happy. Not everyone who doesn't like the game is a jerk. If you don't like Pokémon, that's cool. Us users of the game won't get mad at you but we will surely recommend it since it's so fun, at least to us. But we will never be as cruel as some of those who don't play.
Pokémon Go is not going to go away, not any time soon. It has captured the hearts and phones of millions of player. It gets us moving and brings us joy. So ignore the haters, get out there and catch them all. Be the very best like no one ever was.
