The Square in downtown Magnolia, Arkansas has its very first sports bar, The Corner Clubhouse! Located at 100 S. Washington, Magnolia, Arkansas 71753 and open Monday through Thursday 10:30am - 9:00pm, Friday - Saturday 10:30am - 10:00pm, and Sunday 10:30am - 2:00pm.

This was very exciting for me and I think the people of Magnolia and Southern Arkansas University students, alumni and staff should be excited as well! I had the opportunity to interview Alexandra Langston, one of the owners of this bar.

Meet the Owners:

Alexandra was born and raised in El Dorado, AR. She is happily married to Josey Langston with four dogs, Tank, Daisy, Fluffy and Gracie. She graduated from El Dorado High School in 2009, and Southern Arkansas University with a Bachelor's in Business Administration degree in Accounting in 2014 and a Masters in Business Administration in 2015. She is currently also the Business Manager of the El Dorado Golf & Country Club where she has been for ten years. She is a member of theFirst United Methodist Church in El Dorado, AR. Her hobbies include watching baseball, traveling, supporting SAU baseball since her husband is the second baseman, spending time with her dogs, and fishing.

Wayne Walthall, her father, was also born and raised in El Dorado, AR. He is happily married to Michelle Walthall with five children, including Alexandra, Tommey,Eric, Dalton, and Sally. He also graduated from El Dorado High School in 1980 and attended college at the University of Oklahoma. He is a member of the Westside Baptist Church in El Dorado, AR and has been in the Welding Supply business for thirty plus years. His hobbies include playing the piano in a hometown band, farming, fishing and hunting.

What brought this idea of creating a business together?

"We both knew one day we wanted to work together, work in some sort of sporting field, and not have to work for a boss. We never dreamed it would be opening a restaurant and bar in downtown Magnolia, Arkansas with our whole family. Every member of our family has contributed in some form or another. " - Alexandra

A Family Business

"Our restaurant is more than a father-daughter duo. Michelle, Wayne's wife, is the master in the kitchen. The great food comes straight from her hard work and recipes. Josey, my husband, manages the front of the house. He takes care of the register, bar, deposits, and all of the "behind-the-scenes" grunt and prep work. It doesn't stop there with the family help. Dalton and Eric are also crucial parts of our staff. They both work countless hours in the kitchen and the front of the house to make the business run smooth. Another family member that has been a crucial part of getting us opened would be my mother-in-law, Renee Langston." - Alexandra

The Bar - A Family's Personal Touch

"Russell & Bonnie Walthall (Wayne's parents) helped build the bar and shelving around the Clubhouse." - Alexandra

"The pennies on the top of the bar have family history. The dark pennies come from my great-grandfather's glass penny jar. (Bonnie's father). There is one wheat penny upside down on the bar!" - Alexandra

"Russell has a unique talent. Each time he goes to eat, he draws on a napkin wherever he goes. The napkin dispensers have began to fill up with his drawings on the outside." - Alexandra

Sports Time

You can watch all the big games on the big screen now with your friends, favorite drink, and good food at The Corner Clubhouse! How exciting is this! It will be a great place to have your game days.

The Menu

These items are so YUMMY! Personally, I recommend the huge and affordable baked potatoes!

Their baked potatoes are out of this WORLD! AND very affordable! As you can see, on the menu, there is many choices on which mixtures you want. When I asked Alexandra where they got the idea of the big baked potatoes she said, " The standard size is not big enough, we needed something big enough to feed a grown man! My daddy is a big man, he was tired of the little potatoes!"

Well, that concludes my article on The Corner Clubhouse. This sports bar will be a great addition to downtown Magnolia, AR! I highly recommend it and will be going there quite a bit myself.

In honor of Mother’s Day, I have been thinking of all the things my mom does for my family and me. Although I couldn’t write nearly all of them, here are a few things that moms do for us.

They find that shirt that’s right in front of you, but just you can’t seem to find.

10 Reasons To Thank Your Best Friend

Take the time to thank that one friend in your life you will never let go of.

Thank You on wooden blocks

1. Thank you for being the one I can always count on to be honest.

A true friend will tell you if the shirt is ugly, or at least ask to borrow it and "accidentally" burn it.

2. Thank you for accepting me for who I am.

A best friend will love you regardless of the stale french fries you left on the floor of your car, or when you had lice in 8th grade and no one wanted to talk to you.

Do as I say, not as I do.

Your eyes widen in horror as you stare at your phone. Beads of sweat begin to saturate your palm as your fingers tremble in fear. The illuminated screen reads, "Missed Call: Mom."

Growing up with strict parents, you learn that a few things go unsaid. Manners are everything. Never talk back. Do as you're told without question. Most importantly, you develop a system and catch on to these quirks that strict parents have so that you can play their game and do what you want.

"Friends" maybe didn’t have everything right or realistic all the time, but they did have enough episodes to create countless reaction GIFs and enough awesomeness to create, well, the legacy they did. Something else that is timeless, a little rough, but memorable? Living away from the comforts of home. Whether you have an apartment, a dorm, your first house, or some sort of residence that is not the house you grew up in, I’m sure you can relate to most of these!
