The College Student's Christmas List

Santa, this is just a few things students really need.

As Christmas is coming up, children across the globe are making their list of what they want for Christmas to Santa. I know I'm a little late, but I managed to throw together a list for me (and all of the other college students out there). Just a few things, not much, that I know many of us will need as we start the new year and the new semester.

These aren't exactly things Mom and Dad can go out to the store and buy, but Santa can do some miracles.

1. Motivation

This is at the top of my list. I barely made it out of bed before noon this morning. I just completed finals, and the idea of classes starting in three weeks really makes me sad. Santa, please bless me with the strength to go back to school and the motivation to make it through the entirety of next semester without skipping a quarter of my classes.

2. Money

Now, I work part-time and attend university full-time, so I don't want to hear anyone say that I should work for my money. I most definitely am. This being true, between car payments and buying books for class, I have next to nothing in the bank. So, if Santa could find me a miracle, that would be wonderful.

3. Understanding/Laid-back Teachers

Yes. This. If the school's printers are down, but I email you the assignment, it's done. I did it. You cannot give me a zero simply because something the school provides didn't work. Last winter, my teacher wanted to meet online during a snow day, but the Wi-Fi didn't work. He didn't believe us, and we all received zeros for the day. On a snow day! Santa, give me a break!

4. Time for Naps

I'm pretty sure this explains itself.

5. Cooperation for Group Projects

I don't want to be the one doing all of the work, but I also don't want to be clueless when we present it. If we could all work together, that would be appreciated. Please put that in everyone's stockings.

6. Snow Days

I don't want to miss class as much as I would really like to sleep in or get a break from the people in my class that make me mad or are really annoying. Snow days are time for me to catch up on homework, socialize a little bit, and rest (because we know no college student gets enough of that).

7. Energy that Lasts Until Spring Break

Please. I usually run out of energy by week 4 and then my hard work turns into semi-decent work. By midterm, I'm shot. So that's a lot of energy, Santa.

Santa, I'm not asking for much. Please!

I think the hardest thing about going away to college is figuring out how to become an adult. Leaving a household where your parents took care of literally everything (thanks, Mom!) and suddenly becoming your own boss is overwhelming. I feel like I'm doing a pretty good job of being a grown-up, but once in awhile I do something that really makes me feel like I'm #adulting. Twenty-somethings know what I'm talking about.

I went to a small high school, like 120-people-in-my-graduating-class small. It definitely had some good and some bad, and if you also went to a small high school, I’m sure you’ll relate to the things that I went through.

1. If something happens, everyone knows about it

Who hooked up with whom at the party? Yeah, heard about that an hour after it happened. You failed a test? Sorry, saw on Twitter last period. Facebook fight or, God forbid, real fight? It was on half the class’ Snapchat story half an hour ago. No matter what you do, someone will know about it.

Chandler Bing

I'm assuming that we've all heard of the hit 90's TV series, Friends, right? Who hasn't? Admittedly, I had pretty low expectations when I first started binge watching the show on Netflix, but I quickly became addicted.

Without a doubt, Chandler Bing is the most relatable character, and there isn't an episode where I don't find myself thinking, Yup, Iam definitely the Chandler of my friend group.

Working with the public can be a job, in and of itself. Some people are just plain rude for no reason. But regardless of how your day is going, always having to be in the best of moods, or at least act like it... right?

1. When a customer wants to return a product, hands you the receipt, where is printed "ALL SALES ARE FINAL" in all caps.

2. Just because you might be having a bad day, and you're in a crappy mood, doesn't make it okay for you to yell at me or be rude to me. I'm a person with feelings, just like you.

3. People refusing to be put on hold when a customer is standing right in front of you. Oh, how I wish I could just hang up on you!

RBF, or resting b*tch face, is a serious condition that many people suffer from worldwide. Suffers are often bombarded with daily questions such as "Are you OK?" and "Why are you so mad?" If you have RBF, you've probably had numerous people tell you to "just smile!"

While this question trend can get annoying, there are a couple of pros to having RBF.
