Student Review

Senior year is right around the corner, and when I say corner I mean next week. How is it even possible that summer is over already? It feels like we just ended the spring semester and bam! here comes senior year. If you're anything like me I know theres a few things you've been thinking about.

Walking into a whole new school with all new people is a really scary thing, but we did it.

We sat through those boring gen. ed. classes that wanted to put us to sleep week after week.

We struggled to get through those 8am's that your counselor decided they would be so great to have....not!

We sat through those really, really, really, long 3 hour night classes about music theory, which had nothing to do with your major.

We sat alone on the first few weeks in the cafe, hoping that someone wouldn't come and sit next to you trying to strike up a conversation.

We got up early, just to be able to go online and register for classes, just so you could pick a class with your friends.

We contemplated switching majors once or maybe even twice.

We found friends with the same major as you to make classes more bearable.

We made friends with our advisors, cause they somehow never steered you wrong, especially when choosing classes with certain, boring teachers.

We got smarter, and made our classes on two days of the week, leaving the other days or studying...or partying.

We had weekends that started on Thursday nights.

We became close friends with the bartender at the local bar during college night.

We learned all the tricks around campus.

We had visits from the ghost on campus.

We made best friends with people that will forever be in your life.

We managed to eat, sleep, study, and have fun...somehow.

But all of those things we enjoyed doing for the past three years will end. This year is a year for lasts. The last homecoming dance, the last sports game, senior night, and even prez picnic. So you better study hard because the real world is coming sooner than you think. But you also better have fun. No more dollar beers on Thursday nights once the real world starts. So go out and enjoy the last year with some of the greatest friends you will ever meet.

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

1. When course schedules are released and you have a conflict between two required classes.

Bonus points if it is more than two.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

As an English Major in college, I have a lot of writing and especially creative writing pieces that I work on throughout the semester and sometimes, I'll find it hard to get the motivation to type a few pages and the thought process that goes behind it. These are eleven thoughts that I have as a writer while writing my stories.

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
