There's more to it than a silver bell

The College Life Told by The Polar Express

As the holidays inch nearer and nearer it only seems fit to relate the life of a college student to one of the greatest holiday movies, The Polar Express.

1. Those self-motivation moments

We've all been there. It's 1:30am, the library has cleared out, it's only you, a lukewarm cup of coffee and a pile of homework. Faith is running low, you're on the verge of a mental breakdown so you decide to stop what you're doing and motivate yourself to keep going or else who knows if you'll even make it until morning. You just got to give yourself that reassurance that you believe in yourself and can keep going.

2. The night before homecoming

You know you go to a great school if homecoming day is pretty much like another Christmas morning. The night before is all about preparation. Hydration is key, eat a nice meal, and of course, be sure to get to bed early because like Christmas morning, if you're doing it right, you'll be up at 6am ready to do your thing.

3. When Juju on that Beat comes on in a frat

You know as soon as those first couple seconds start playing everyone is stopping what they're doing, the entire basement yells, "OOOHHHHHH" and it's time to dance. Everyone is in synch and if you happen to not know the whole dance, then you're waiting for the running man part because everyone can at least act like they know what they are doing during that part.

4. 30 seconds before a test and all knowledge escapes

You've just spent all night studying for a test you were told about a week ago and has been on the syllabus all semester but somehow, in the span of the past 14 hours, you've successfully managed to get 2 weeks of useless information into your brain. Then, as you sit down to take the test, everything you thought you knew conveniently leaves and your left staring at a paper with 0 answers.

5. Looking at the next break coming in the distance

As amazing and awesome as college is, we all look forward to some things when we go home. Whether it be family, friends, a dog, or your favorite pizza joint, there is just no place at home. So those few days leading up to the next break are just filled with anticipation.

6. But once you're there you can't wait to be go back

Just like everyone realizes how much they love home while they are at college, everyone realizes how much they love college when they are home. I mean, home is great and all. You get some home cooked meals, finally, but after a little while you start to miss the 2am chinese food deliveries and trying to survive on a college student budget. So when the day finally comes for you to be able to go back, it's as if whatever you're traveling in can not go fast enough.

birthday party

My birthday has never been my favorite holiday. I've found that I'm more excited to celebrate my friends' and family members' birthdays more than my own. I don't like being the center of attention, so I usually celebrate over dinner with a small group of family and friends. This way, I can enjoy myself naturally without feeling like I have to entertain everyone and make sure they are satisfied. In the past when I've had large parties, I was so nervous that people weren't perfectly content that I didn't enjoy myself at my own celebration.

College Informations

Most of us have already started the spring semester, and for those of you who haven't started yet, you suck.

It seems like coming back from winter break wouldn't really be a break all things considered, since we all come back to school and pick up right where we left off. We know exactly what to expect, yet we're unprepared every single time.

I'm serious

There are tons of unisex names that are popular: Taylor, Alex, Bailey, etc. There are also numerous names that are used for both sexes, but they’re not seen as “unisex” yet. People are slowly becoming accustomed to the dual use of these names, but for the most part, in their minds they associate certain names with certain sexes. And that leaves those of us with these names in many awkward situations.

You know that all of these things apply to you. You'll just never tell.

I'm an anthropology major, and I love every minute of it. I couldn't tell you why, but I guess there's just something about studying different lifestyles that absolutely fascinates me. But anthropology majors definitely have our weird sides, especially when you go to a school that is filled with mostly Business and Bio majors. But us weirdos definitely have a lot in common, specifically these 16 things.

pale girl

Everyone has insecurities, that's just a fact. You didn't ask to be born this way. You didn't ask to inherit the one trait no one else in your family has. And you definitely didn't ask to be this ghostly white. But as soon as you've learned to live with it for a while (less wrinkles later on in life, right? right???) someone has to ruin it for you. They have to flaunt they're perfectly tanned body from Spring Break and hold their sun-kissed skin against yours. But I've had enough... here are the things that perpetually pale individuals are tired of hearing.
